Having been a member with TDwaterhouse for a number of years, I have been appalled at their recent demise as he nation sn umber one offline stockbroker. Beforehand their was a notable ease of service and efficient conduction of trades really impressed me, however recently i have found that there are simply not enough operators to deal with the increased demand. Similarly, the operators are now rude and not as helpful as they used to be. These are problems, the increase in volatility of the market has now meant that prices now jump and this delay will no doubt infuriate other traders wanting to obtain better prices.
I've had a TD Waterhouse web trader for 5 years - Initially they were good, the website was fast, they allow access to international markets and some derivatives..
However... As of about a year ago they have gone to pieces.
1) The website is often down. - it's a web trader for crying out loud.
2) Even when the website is up - it flakes out on stock look ups etc. The excuse is always the same; "we are experiencing high volumes" - buy a quicker ... ...Telephone service is terrible, i'm typing in this review while waiting for a CS rep to pick up the phone to execute my order via the phone (because once again the website is down) - I have been waiting 25 minutes.
Get a TD Waterhouse account at your peril. ...
Since buying Yorkshare, TD Waterhouse have kept up the good efficient service. They have put up the price of phone deals, however I, along with acquaintances prefer to deal with a voice rather than the uncertainty of dealing with a computer.
Yes, it's pricey, but if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. For the sake of a few quid, I'd rather get through in a minute, rather than 20 minutes. They'll buy / sell from a t-2 to a t-20 (in my experiences, ...

Advantages: Cheap but not as much as they used to be Disadvantages: Arrogant
...been a frequent trader at TD Waterhouse for many years. Infact, I opened my account with them back in 1992 - when they were Sharemarket. Over the years, I have seen the service go down hill, there is definately an air of arrogance amongst the dealing staff and credit control dept. In the old days, they wanted our business but now they can afford to be rude to customers.
I have build up a large number of holdings in my nominee account with them and ...

Advantages: Good for Frequent Traders Disadvantages: Always have the problem online
I have join TDWaterhouse Share dealing service over 3 year, and join their frequent trader club since the beginning of this year. The overall service of this company is good. They are only charge for £14.95 per trade. It is a quite good for me.
But the problem is this company always have the program on the internet trading, eg. I have few times to buy or sell Qxl.com Shares; the program is when I buy or sell 5000 0r 10000 share online, it can get the deal for it, but when I Buy or sell under 5000 shares, it cannot get the deal for it, TDWaterhouse said this is the problem of the electronic market. I do not know why I can not buy small amount of share (£1000 to £4000), and should buy for over that amount.
I have the problem same again on selling my Halifax share few weeks ago; it is I cannot sell my part of my Halifax share under 400 ...

Advantages: Low cost Disadvantages: Very inefficent
I set up an account with TDWaterhouse & regretted it! They lost a £1000 cheque I sent to them to go into my share account. I complained about this and was ignored. After a lot of phone calls, I eventually got through to someone who could help and after having to get a copy of my cheque from my bank got my money back. This all took 5 months!!!
I have since switched to e-trade.co.uk who are much better. Money transfers take place by direct debit which is much simpler ...
