PLEASE NOTE: Unlike many of my fellow reviewers I have NOT used this coniditioner with its corresponding shampoo! I got the conditioner at a knock down price and fancied experimenting, so please bear in mind it may work differently with its shampoo! (Incidentally I used "Pantene Time Renewal Shampoo with it - excellent product, consider it!)
This luminous green, gel-like conditioner comes in a nice pump bottle which I think is good to ensure you use the correct amount, after a little experimentation to see what works best for you, of course!
It has a lovely pineapple smell, which is very uplifting and
zingy!
It claims to control frizz, straighten hair and reduce drying time...
*The price and the shop*
Well, I paid £5.99 for this bottle from T K Maxx. I looked in Trade Secret and found a larger bottle of shampoo and conditioner being sold at £15 for the pair... Pretty good value for money, since you only use the tiniest amount of this highly concentrated product!
*The background*
I am forever on the search for good hair products thanks to my strange hair combination... I have quite straight, long, fine hair (middle of my back) so frizz can be a problem for me. Thanks to its fineness it gets greasy and kinked after one sleep, so I need something light enough to use daily. But I have dry ends, thanks to the long length, the blow drying and the GHDs. And I have dark blonde hair that can go quite coppery and flat-colored with the wrong products.. So I'm basically on the market for a miracle :p
I've never used a TIGI product before, but I religiously return to Toni and Guy for my hair cuts and love the way my hair smells and feels after, so I thought I'd have a bash myself!
*Directions*
I shampooed as usual, but the I reached the point I hate before I condition... Some conditioners directly tell you to apply to either soaking wet hair, or dry hair slightly and apply to damp hair... No such luck with this one. So I went for the happy-medium of squeezing the excess water so my hair was still very wet, but not dripping!
Anyways, I tried two squirts, and applied from the tips, upwards. I was concerned using this on my roots... The conditioner feels very "sliquid" as they say on their bottle, and I didn't want it to be too heavy! The
I *loved* the smell, but my hair didn't feel any more conidioned than it would with my Pantene or Head and Shoulders. I perservered, after zillions of products, you learn you can't judge until your hair is dried, styled and you're out the door!
I rinsed, blowdried and GHD'd and then judged for myself...
*Evaluation*
.... I wasn't amazingly impressed! The smell had faded - I was very sad about this! My hair was very heavy! First big no no! I have very fine hair (and a lot of it, as my hairdresser says), so if my hair gets heavy, it doesn't look or feel great!
Credit where it's due, my hair was very shiny! Very very shiny! But, it wasn't at all soft! And I had more knots than usual! My hair did also feel thicker... But I thank the Pantene for this more than the coniditoner!
*Score*
Sorry TIGI, 5/10!
*In conclusion*
I wasn't impressed with the stand alone conditioner, but please bear in mind, I didn't use its partner shampoo! As you may or may not know, with professional products, a lot of the products characteristics come from the shampoo in the system, as opposed to the conditioner (with high street brands, it's generally the opposite way around). Also, I reiterate, I only used the conditioner, I have every faith it would be different with the shampoo!
But, overall, nice smelling product, over-priced though! I'd be very wary about re-purchasing!
*Alternative ideas*
I'd recommend using this with the system's shampoo! If you're looking for a similar product, consider the fructis range! It smells very similar and I had the same problems with that system too!
Otherwise consider other BedHead products... I believe Moisture Maniac does similar things, and would be keen to know if anyone has used it!
I bought Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey Shampoo and Conditioner yesterday too, to watch this space for that review!
Thanks for the read, would love to hear your comments, thoughts and experiences!
