What do you mean you can’t walk around with TK Maxx bags cause it’s not cool? The clothes certainly are cool and I will not let those ignorant people stop me. Do not however attempt to step inside if time is not on your side...

Fair enough I might not be super rich yet to be shopping at Karen Millen (non-sale) but I will not be stopped when trying to look good in a bargain deal!
Now for all of you that read my opinion on Jane Norman, Miss sixty and Mango will know that I am a fashion victim and to make matters worse a shop addicted spoiled little brat. Even when I don’t have the money I will try and sneak a bargain!

TK Maxx was introduced to me by my best friend Sameena, who is now in Guatemala on her year of travel. She said it’s good and it’s cheap BUT don’t ever get caught with TK Maxx plastic bags cause it’s just not cool!

Those from the States might be familiar with a discount retailer called TK Maxx. Like the store in the US, TK Maxx contains women's, men's and children's clothes and shoes as well as personal and home accessories.

My favourite TK Maxx

My all time favourite TK Maxx store is in Ealing Broadway next to the McDonalds and HMV in a shopping centre that consists of four shops and a café.
For more details: The Broadway, London, W5 Tel: 020 8566 0447

As you come into the shop which is massive you are firstly overwhelmed by the amount of people coming and going. It’s like a Sunday market where people go through the goods systematically in order not to miss a bargain.

There are different categories:

As you come in you will see the checkout points on your right. There are quite a few of those as it does get busy in there. Close to the tills you will find a bag section that is full of nice leather bags in all colours of the rainbow. They are quite clever to put those there because they are quite cheap and your eye always falls on the bags at low prices while you are standing in the q to pay.

Straight ahead are all the latest fashion items- that is depending on the season, either jumpers and jeans or t-shirts, blouses and skirts.
Basically the way it is structured that the front part of the shop is the woman’s part and the back is the men’s part.

There is also quite a big clearance section where you can find bargains at even lower prices. Devine!

Further down the back on the right are the shoes, which I don’t really bother with as they never seem to have my size in the styles I like and I am only a size 6/39. The shoes range from 35 and a half and go up to 41 (2-8) and are not really all that great in my opinion.
There is also a section for plus sizes where the sizes start from 14 and reach to 22, which is great as there are not many shops out there that cater for the bigger girls!

One of favourite sections is the underwear selection they do with the matching bras and G-strings. Wicked! I recently bought a la Sensa tiger print bra and G string, the material is velvet and lycra and it looks hot, at least that’s what my randy boyfriend said! Hahaha

The men’s selection is divided into shirts, trousers (casual), denim, trousers smart and depending on the season jumpers. I bought Andrew a great French Connection sweater for only £25 squids! Now that’s what I call bargain!

Quality, brands and colours:

I have been buying TK Maxx for the last two years and none of the items I bought had to be returned because of quality. They are durable and can be washed and worn every day of the week.

I bought a pair of light blue firetrap trousers for, believe it or not, £8! How wicked is that. They are kind of aquamarine with the waist sitting low and the legs flaring out. It was the only one they had and I know I will not see anyone in the street wearing it, which happens a lot if you shop at Zara.

You can find any sort of colour you are after as they do a lot of unique pieces in lime, natural tones, brown shades, blue and pink shades. The brands include French Connection, Firetrap, DKNY, Levis, Diesel, Pepe, CK, La Sensa, Full Circle, morgan, jasper Konran...and much more.

Sizes

The size I normally take is 10-12 depending on the fit for trousers cause of my J-Lo duckling butt! The tops are size 10 and dresses 10 as well. I find their sizes most time if anything come up a bit big as they are imported from the US.
There are around 20 changing cabinets for each section, man and woman, to minimize the q but I always end up waiting at least a couple of minutes, which I guess is not too bad compared to some other shops (Zara).

Prices

The range of prices is the best part of the whole thing and if you are not scared to search for the goods, believe me it’s is crowded, it is well worth it.
Tops start from around £5-20 (if it a well known brand like DKNY it will be top of the price range) dresses start from £10 and go up to £70 for cocktail dresses and two piece suits.

A pair of diesel I bought from a diesel shop in Covent Garden cost me £60 and then I saw the same thing in TK for £25! Gutted! Now I try and visit TK Maxx first before I do another stupid mistake!

Staff

People seem to always be in a good mood because everytime I reach the till people are smiling and joking. Because most items in all sizes are on the shop floor they will however think twice to go and check in stock for you for something you can't find so beware you really and trully are shopping on your own!

Whatever you do if you love shopping you can find any garment or even household goods and present ideas for great prices. Even for the guys there is an underwear section full of nice crisp DKNY boxer shorts or Y fronts whatever you prefer (yuk).

Check it out! It certainly is an experience!

I almost feel a party pooper for rating as I did but, I went into one for the first time the other day and bought toys, Christmas crackers, candles and not a single piece of fashion clothing! Darn it, mention the other stuff a bit more and I'll come back and do the necessary. Do hope you understand. Fine review otherwise:)
