Advantages Advantages Earn loads of points to exchange for great prizes including holidays

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be time consuming scanning everything

I have been a member of TNS for over 2 years and when first approached about the company was a little sceptical as I thought they sounded a little too good to be true. They would give me electrical monitoring equipment for free, all I did was scan my purchases on a weekly basis, send in my till receipts, they would then give me points to go towards items. I did however decide that I would give it a go. ~What is TNS?~ The National Shopping Monitor is in theory a survey company who reward its members with points on a monthly basis for scanning all the items that they purchase on a weekly basis ... more

Advantages Advantages Good rewards, doesn't take much time or effort

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be tedious scanning a large shop

I have been a member of National Shopping Monitor (NSM) for about 4 years and have found it to be well rewarded for little effort, although it is a bit tedious. WHO RUNS IT? NSM is run by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), the world's third largest market research company. The company wishes to gather information on shopping habits in order to allow manufacturers to gain a better understanding of consumers. WHAT IS IT? Upon joining this panel, you will receive a handheld scanner, and a docking station that is connected to your phone line. You will also receive a booklet of barcodes for various shops ... more

Advantages Advantages Frequent points, good service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Recording each item of weekly shopping

Buckinghamshire-based, international market research company Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) has a scheme where consumers may accumulate reward points in exchange for providing them with data on your weekly shop. These points may be exchanged for household goods through their own catalogue. + What does it involve? After completing the registration process, TNS sent me a palm kit that I plugged into a telephone socket. This was a hand held screen in a little stand, with a 'pencil' to scroll down the screens with, although I didn't bother using this after a while. There was also a folder of ... more

Advantages Advantages Small Easy To Use Handset. Great Rewards For Taking Part

Disadvantages Disadvantages Barcodes Are Sometimes Difficult To Scan

I was first introduced to the world of the National Shopping Monitor when a letter came through my letter box asking if I was interested in earning rewards in return for giving information about my shopping habits (I believe it is now possible to sign up online). I thought why not and filled in the form. A couple of weeks later an exciting box arrived with the postman. The system was explained very well and was easy to install. It consisted of a handset and a booklet of codes. The handset had a charging station that was plugged into the mains, for charging, and into the phone socket. The basic ... more

    Advantages Advantages Get free stuff!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a while to earn enough points for the free stuff!

Earlier this year, I completed a survey on the internet which asked me if I would be interested in becoming a shopping monitor in exchange for free stuff. I signed up without really knowing what was entailed. I didn't hear anything for a couple of months but then received a phonce call, which asked whether I was still interested. I said that I was and a couple of weeks later I received my scanner. TNS request that you use the scanner that they provide to scan all your shopping (anything with a bar code). To do this, you have to connect the scanner to your phone line so that they can collect ... more
