Advantages: Working in tandem with top researchers Disadvantages: Is not widely known as a "red-brick" university
...I have called this opinion "The best in Europe" because, attached to the University of Southampton is the "Southampton Oceanography Centre" which has a reputation as the best oceanographic education and research establishment in Europe.
Having studied Oceanography here for 2 years - I would recommend it highly to anyone thinking of pursuing a career in any of the ocean and earth sciences.
Not only is the SOC run by the University, but it is also home to many research scientists working with NERC (Natural Environment Research Council), which means that all students have access to cutting edge scientists who are working at the top end of their particular field....

...Leeds was a cool University. I went there, had fun, got a degree, came home again. What more could you want?
The thing I liked most about Leeds was that it is a very friendly place. Not being the most outgoing of people I appreciated a place where people accept you and are happy.
Basically theres always a good vibe. It's a happy happy place.
I went to York for a year first, and it's not like that there. Boring, and disinterested people.
And the students union has the longest bar in Europe (allegedly). And it has the longest corridor in Europe (also allegedly)....

...The University of Wales Institute is situated in the heart of Cardiff, capital city of Wales. The university has several thousand students coming from all over Europe to study. I am currently half way through my Computing course and have enjoyed every minute, the lecturers are friendly and helpful and the people are amazingly warm and welcoming. The city itself is vibrant, colourful and offers a wide range of clubs and pubs ( always important to students). If you are looking to go to university then you couldnt find a better place to choose and if you do decide to come I will see you there and we will have to go for a drink....
