Review of "TRESemme Colour Revitalising Shampoo"
I'm 25 and I have just become a first time mum! So many reviews will be baby related. I have a degree in early years education, and work within the NHS. I have 4 cats and love reading and trying new things.
TRESemme are a well known brand, and so when I was looking for a colour fade protection shampoo, I had confidence in this brand and snapped up a shampoo and conditioner on offer, although the prices have changed since then.
I have been using this shampoo for over a year now, I find Tresemme colour shampoo very easy to commit to, especially with the huge bottles for sale, I am constantly stuck to the same brand.
I personally think the prices are pretty decent, they aren’t the cheapest but you do get what you pay for and these are worth buying.
The shampoo’s and conditioner’s both come in three different sizes.
The mini 100ml- perfect for use on your travels, or as a tester bottle.
The average sized bottle at 500ml
The large sized bottle at 900ml
The price’s at Boots are...
£1.32 for the 100ml.
£3.26 for the 500ml.
I haven’t seen the 900ml available at any of my boots stores, nor it is online.
However, they are readily available from most supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda for around £4.50 per bottle.
I think £4.50 for a 900ml is fantastic! Especially considering there are always offers available. I bought my last set on a buy one get one free offer, meaning I paid about £2.25 per 900ml bottle... a bargain!
The bottle design doesn’t alter on the sizes, meaning they are easy to spot. The colour protection range comes in black, contrasting with the others which are mainly in white.
The lid’s don’t need to be removed for use, they work by pushing one end to allow the liquid flow on the other which is a simple and easy method although it can get messy.
When popping the lid open, usually some liquid pops out and over time this can cause the lid to become messy.
The only fault I can pick out with the design of the containers is that, especially with the conditioners, I find they become hard to use when you get past about half way into the bottle. The liquid can become hard to get out and I find the need to shake the bottles quite vigorously; more than with other range bottles.
As I buy the large 900ml bottles, I have purchased some smaller travel containers from boots for about £1.70 each, although these can be bought cheaper elsewhere.
I fill these bottles up with my shampoo and conditioner for the gym as it saves carrying two huge 900ml bottles around and also means I can benefit from using my shampoo whilst not at home.
I have no complaints about the use of this shampoo. It lathers up well without the need of a huge amount of water. Applying the shampoo to damp hair enables it to lather up without much effort.
I find I only need a small amount of shampoo as it spreads easily- combine this fact with the size of the bottles gives a little clue to how these last so long.
I find the smell of the shampoo very pleasant, it doesn’t smell too much like soap and holds a slight hint of a fruity fragrance to it. The smell reminds me of being at the hairdressers, but this may be down to the fact that hairdressers have and do use this range; making my love of this shampoo stronger.
The shampoo easily washes out, sadly along with the fragrance of the shampoo. The conditioner smell which I use afterwards takes over and I don’t find my hair is left with much of a smell at all, although I’m not all that bothered; I’m not one to sniff my hair all day long.
The biggest factor to me sticking with the same shampoo for so long is because of it’s positive effects. For me, it does exactly what it says on the tin! Since using this colour fade shampoo, I have noticed a big difference in how long my colour lasts.
I am a brunette and usually dye me hair every 6 weeks although this is just routine. I now leave my hair for longer, in fact it has been 11 weeks since I dyed my hair; almost twice as long! And my hair has faded only a little bit, my lovely shade of brown is still just about the same and the only clue of time is my roots showing through!
The hair dye I used was L’oreal castings crème gloss- dark chocolate, although I have used many of the brunette colours from other brands and the shampoo worked for them all.
I sometimes find other shampoos dry my hair out and make my hair cry out for conditioner, but I have found this isn’t the case with this shampoo. It cleans, without drying out your hair meaning only a small amount of conditioner is needed afterwards.
A 900ml bottle lasts me up to 6 months although this will depend greatly on your hair length, the amount of people using it and how much you use at a time.
I am going blonde next week, so I will definitely be giving the blonde range a try!
I have and will continue to recommend this shampoo to everybody. Whether you have dyed hair or not, there’s a wide range of products from this fantastic brand.
The colour fade shampoo does no harm to people with natural hair which is a great benefit as I share the shampoo with my sister, spreading the costs!
The price is absolutely fantastic for the length of time the bottle lasts and the great effects it has on my hair, thanks TRESemme!
