Its something that we used to talk about at school all the time, meeting up at each others houses each weekend after we had just spend all of that week's pocket money on the latest editions. I had quite a large collection, one of the teddies being Bonzai the chimpanzee.
Bonzai: Okay so Bonzai is a chimpanzee, but I always just calle him a monkey. To be honest, I never know ... ...a lot darker than other TY monkeys (and such like!), with beige coloured paws and face. His tail is very long and thin, with a little pointy flat nose. To touch, his fur is exceptionally soft and thick. Rubbing it backwards it turns a different colour, which is very fun! Bonzai has little beans inside him, which can be a choking hazard so not suitable for very young children. Also he is quite delicate so I would not put him in the washing machine! ... more

Bonzai: Okay so Bonzai is a chimpanzee, but I always just calle him a monkey. To be honest, I never know the difference, and he does kind of look like a cute little monkey! His fur is a deep brown colour, a lot darker than other TY monkeys (and such like!), with beige coloured paws and face. If you did, Bonzai may be splatted and ripped everywhere!
Poem: Each TY comes with a poem. It can be found inside a little cardboard red tag in the shape of a heart which is attached to their ear. Bonzai's reads...
I am Bonsai the chimpanzee I like to swing from tree to tree Come with me and we will play Chatting in the trees all day!
Its quite a sweet little poem, and although not the best I've read, is still very cute and unique to the chimpanzee!
Purchasing: Bonzai is unfortunately retired. This means that the TY company no longer manufacture him to be sold in shops. However you may be able to find him in charity shops or auction sites such as eBay. Though he may be priced highly as some see him as an antique. Though there are those who think of him as old and worthless, and will sell him at a cheap price!
I used to name my TYs and eight of them made up pop band s club 8. Bonzai played the roll of Rochelle! He was definitely important in my collection and nobody else should be without him either! He may look like a cheeky little monkey but this chimpanzee is a rare little teddy!
