TY Beanies are adorable, there is no wonder my friends and I were crazy for these little soft toys! The TY beanies came in all sorts of varieties, whether animal or bear. They each had their own special name, and between us, my friends and I owned and could name pretty much every one going!
One of the teddies is a polar bear named Fridge. Although naming a beanie after a household appliance may seem strange, Fridge is an appropriate name. Fridges are cold, and so is the climate of the polar bear habitats. To look at, Fridge is adorable. He has a very sweet little face that looks slightly upset and can draw a tear to your eye. He sits on his rear end, leaning forward slightly. His fur is a gorgeous fresh white colour, very pure. There is no doubt about it, Fridge looks perfect.
To the touch, Fridge has very soft fur. It is quite thin but very warm and cuddly. Inside him it feels at first like he is made of nothing more than than stuffing fluff. But he actually has beans in his bum and legs. Whilst this adds extra weight, it does provide a choking hazard if he were to rip, so the bear is not suitable for very small children. White fur will get dirty quicker than any other colour, so if you were to wash him I would suggest a simple scrub by hand to make sure he is not damaged in a washing machine.
On Fridge's left ear, as with all the TY beanies, you will find a little cardboard heart shaped tag. Opening it up you will notice there is a little poem inside. It reads:
Way out among the iceberg caps Is where I love to make my naps I won't be cold out in the snow My coat will keep me warm, you know!
Okay so this is quite a cute poem. Although the words warm and snow are not usually found in the same verse, it is still pleasant. It is very cute and perfect for Fridge.
This TY bear is now retired. That means they are no longer making him, and he is not being sold in any shops. However never fear, you still may be lucky enough to find somebody selling him on auction sites such as eBay, or shopping sites similar. Though you cannot guarantee a good price. Some will sell him cheap as he is so old but others will see this as an antique opportunity within the collection and worth a bit more. I wouldn't personally pay any more than £5 or £6 for Fridge, unless he is one of the last few you need to complete an entire collection, or perhaps you have an addiction to all things 'polar bear'.
I adore polar bears, so naturally Fridge is perfect for me. He looks adorable and is incredibly soft and cuddly. He would make a perfect gift for anybody who adores polar bears, but is also nice for any lover of TY beanies.

Nicely reviewed. As I think I might have written in a previous comment on one of your reviews, my sister used to avidly collect these. They are generally really well made.
