I bought this quite randomly one day after seeing it in Space NK; a lash conditioning treatment which claimed to make eyelashes grow. The box stated that this was a plant extract based gel for the growth of eyelashes; naturally longer and thicker eyelashes in 28 days! This seemed amazing to me because I had recently pulled out a load of my lower-line lashes with an evil eyelash curler, and was basically bald. Talika state that the following people should use it:
- Anyone who buys mascara for longer and thicker lashes - Women who have short lashes - Women who have sparse lashes - Women who have lost or are losing their lashes.
I can check all boxes, so quickly bought it!
The
directions are relatively simple-remove all traces of eye make-up and then apply the Talika gel every morning and night. You must be sure to apply Lipocils directly to the base of the eyelashes to ensure that the product penetrates to the roots. Soy Lecithin liposomes stimulate eyelash growth. The other ingredients which stimulate eyelash growth are:
Nettle: Promotes eyelash growth Horse chestnut: Strengthens the eyelash and relieves congestion Allantoļn: Moisturizes the eyelash Soy lecithin: Source of liposomes Witch Hazel: Anti-inflammatory, healing and softening effect St John's wort: Anti-inflammatory Apple extract: Softens, calms, heals
Talika are the only company in France which can make a solid claim of stimulating eyelash growth and clinical tests have been carried out in order to provide evidence of eyelash growth and over 80pc of those tested reported enhances growth. The figures are very high (I saw the results) and when you mix science and beauty so convincingly, you usually get my Visa card.
Well, I must say I was VERY excited at the prospect of using this, mostly because it's a unique product. the tube of liopcils comes in a box posh blue box; the tube itself it white with silver writing on it and a silver lid (I'm looking lovingly at it right now!). Very chic and reserved..ah, the French! It's pretty much like a clear mascara; I bought the eyelash lipocils (you can buy eyebrow lipocils too, though the only differnce is the applicator), which comes with a mascara wand applicator. The gel smells rather chemically and bitter, though not noticeable. It is clear and just enough is on the mascara wand when you retract it; yopu apply it as you would a mascara. I really brushed it into my lash roots to stimulate the growth and after 2 weeks, it paid off!
I could actually see a lot of new eyelashes growing and the ones I had were slightly longer! I'm not gonna say that it was THAT noticeable; after all, who really pays that much attention to your eyelashes apart from you? It didn't give me really heavy lashes so that I need never wear mascara again, though I must say that I am VERY pleased with the results; longer, more and stronger lashes (Mine used to fall out a lot!). After a longer period of time you obviously see more results, but two weeks was all it took for me to see it, which doesn't often happen to me.
The downside of this is that it costs £20 for a tube (10ml)-looks like a slightly larger version of your average mascara. Also, I think that the witch hazel causes slight irritation, despite Talika claiming that it's designed for the most sensitive of people. I definitely feel a bit of pain and sometimes my eyes do water. They sometimes also go slightly red, though none of this is so bad that it acts as a deterrent.
Overall, I would recommend this to those of you who are unhappy with your eyelashes; I don't think that eyelashes are a main feature which others notice, and probably only you will see the difference you get with Talika, but that's enough for me! A tube is expensive, but it lasts for absolutely ages (around 6 months). I'll buy this for the rest of my life, and I'll fork out for the eyebrow one too again (£15-smaller tube, with a sponge applicator and mirror on the side). There might be a slight irritation, especially when you first start using it, but then..no pain, no gain!
You can see the extensive research done at www.talika.com and all that jargon, should you be interested. You can buy this from Space NK-do!
