The T9134T Continuous Forms Page Printer features quite an impressive performance - up to 34 ppm or 1, 700 lpm makes this printer a performer for use in business critical applications. It is equipped with Tally's Cascade controller designed to provide a wide range of emulations including PCL5, PGL and Code V and Tally's own printer language. This printer will work with almost any software application and can be installed as a direct replacement for Line or Serial Matrix printers. The ability to handle electronic forms, logos, and download fonts also provides users with flexibility to both improve the image of documents and reduce costs by eliminating the need to use preprinted forms. With Parallel and Serial interfaces as standard, plus optional interface for IBM and Ethernet connection, this printer can be attached to almost any hardware platform without the need to consider additional devices. The printer is designed to handle single part continuous form paper from 4" to 16.5" wide and n-up labels the T9134T has two adjustable tractor feed devices as standard, which allow two different paper types to be available at any time for almost instant access. Automatic selection and parking of paper is provided without the need for operator intervention, saving considerable time. With fast print speeds using continuous forms, reliable and efficient output stacking is taken care of by the intelligent stacker and pendulum device. An integral cutter is a standard feature enabling the cutting for each page or for job separation and end of job, either automatically or via operator intervention.
Advantages: Attractive, quiet, very fast Disadvantages: Expensive, unreliable, ridiculous pricing structure for consumables that fail
...and then charges you a proportion of that for the new drum.
Now, so far this all sounds fair. If say, the drum failed and it was half way through its expected life then perhaps I should be expected to pay maybe half of the cost of the new drum. However, it doesn't work like this. Firstly Tally make low estimates of the life of these parts and then, when they discover that the drum has served 50% of its life, they charge you 80% of the cost of the new drum. Where, I ask, is the justice in this policy?
This is true of a range of parts, including toner cartridges which can also fail with a spectacular noise and then cost you to replace ink you haven't even used.
In short, you should purchase this printer only of all of the below is true for you:
1: You work for an organisation that requires a workgroup printer.
2: You have at least £500 spare...

THE DESIGN
The printer has a clear slightly curved design reminiscent of a small photocopier. The front of the printer provides access to the paper trays. A top cover collects the paper as it rolls out of the printer. The front of the printer has a power switch and on top of the printer are the communication LEDs that tell you what if anything is wrong with the printer as well as the current status of the printer. As is common with laser printers these lights are accompanied by a small text display for simple messages so you don’t always need to dive for the manual to find out what the combination of lights means. The printer is relatively quiet with a gentle whirring noise indicating printing has begun.

Advantages: Prints documents Disadvantages: Speed and quality
...it is supposed to be 13.9 ppm. This is probarbly true if it printed continually but it always seems to stall mid way through printing a set of documents meaning that the speed seems to be below 10ppm.
As for the quality of the prints, i have printed digital pictures on special paper and they have turned out to be an acceptable quality. This is probarbly because the printer has a 5760 dpi (dots per inch) print resolution and unlike other specifications this seems to have lived up to the promise. Even though i have had the printer a couple of years, after continuall printer head cleaning, black & white documents tend to have distorted lines, retracting from the overall quality of the print.
When printing there are numerous options to make the most of your printer, which are very useful if you use the printer for different purposes, ie. not just...
