A Versatile Author!
Review of Tami Hoag by DiamondCat

Advantages: great writing in two genres
Disadvantages: she won't lay off cheap romance

Tami Hoag is a best selling American author of suspense and romance novels. I can only comment on the suspense ones as I never read romance. I first read one of her books, Cry Wolf, last autumn. I was very impressed and decided to read more and do some research on this author. Before publishing her first book, a romance novel in 1988, she held various other jobs. After a number of love stories she moved on to crime writing. Hoag published thirteen ...
...been made into a TV miniseries. Due to her high profile success she also participated in one of Barbara Bush's literary function and was asked to read at it. Here is a quick overview of her work, afterwards I will mention which ones I'm familiar with. Independent crime Novels - Still Waters (1992) - Dark Paradise (1994) - A Thin Dark Line (1997) - Dark Horse (2002) - Kill the Messenger (2004) - Alibi Man (2007) Kovac/Liska Series - Ashes to ... Macabre series of killings
Review of Ashes to Ashes - Tami Hoag by  sunmeilan

Advantages: Great plot, climatic ending
Disadvantages: Cheesy romantic sideline, gory descriptions

...Introduction Tami Hoag is an author I would probably have never come across if I hadn't lived overseas and suffered from a shortage of books in English. However, I did get to read quite a few, ranging from the frankly dreadful to the really very good. This particular book and its sequel, 'Dust to Dust' are two of the best and are incomparable with most of her other books, in particular the dreadful 'Lucky's Lady'. This is not a book for the faint-hearted, the descriptions of some of the murders are very graphic and probably unnecessary, although they do help to build up the suspense. An excellent book, one that I would thoroughly recommend. The author Tami Hoag's books have been appearing in US bestseller lists since the publication of her first book in 1988. Her books tend towards crime fiction with a generous dollop of romance... Read review

Lucky feels Serene(ah)
Review of Lucky's Lady - Tami Hoag by  kirstymack80

Advantages: cheap (in more ways than one)
Disadvantages: small writing, cheesy beyond belief

...Well the Mack loves a bargain and she recently found a brand new copy of this book selling for one English pound. So she made a purchase, having read only one other Tami Hoag book (Still Waters) and finding it fairly enjoyable. So, what's 'Lucky's Lady' all about? Serena Sheridan is a psychologist who lives in Charleston but is called back to her old hometown in Louisiana when her grandfather vanishes into the swamps. There, she meets Etienne 'Lucky' Doucet - a Cajun who owns a boat which is the only route to Grandaddy Gifford. Lucky and Serena take an instant dislike to each other but this is overridden by lust. He's angry a lot of the time and this fuels her sarcasm. He says things like "I won't know how useful you are until I have you naked beneath me" and "Now, are you gonna get on down here or do I get to spend... Read review

REVENGE BOUNCES BACK!
Review of R is for Ricochet - Sue Grafton by  Louizalass

Advantages: Kept me flicking the pages
Disadvantages: Kinsey Millhone sidelined!

...As Sue Grafton fans know, her Kinsey Millhone ‘Alphabet’ series is hugely popular. Starting with A is for Alibi in 1985, I have read every one and enjoyed them all, some more than others. There is no real need to start at the letter A, although things happen in Kinsey’s private life which spill over into subsequent books, there is always a little précis to get the reader up to speed. I think I started with ‘H is for Homicide’, enjoyed it immensely and got the earlier books from the series from the library. Mystery/Crime stories written by women come in all forms. Gentle (Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple), to roller-coaster rides of excitement (Lisa Gardner, Tami Hoag and Linda Fairstein to name but three of my favourites), or somewhere in between. The ‘Alphabet series’ I would put in the latter category. Each story different... Read review
