This is a great lens and will suite most amateur photographers needs. The detail and sharpness even at full zoom is fantastic even when hand held. The lens itself is light but feels very ruggedly built and is constructed of high quality glass which you would normally only find in more expensive lenses.
Tamron have produced a lens that is not going to break the bank to buy and is not going to give you aches and pains carrying it around all day. I took some shots of a jackdaw in the distance and the sharpness of the image it captured was far more than i was expecting.
It comes complete with a close up setting which although some would say it is not true macro it does give you the option to get a close up shot. Which is more than good enough for what i need.
I have taken this in my camera bag for an all day nature walk i had planed for the last few weeks. The weight of the lens was unnoticeable whilst carrying the bag for most of the day. The ease at which it fits onto the camera body really helps if you want to get that lovely shot of some form of wildlife you have spent time sneaking up on.
There is no vignetting that can happen with some lenses even when using flash. I have been putting this lens through its paces for the last month or and and it has opened up a whole new dimension to my photographs. I have tried but i can not find any downside to the lens at all.
When it is on the camera and in use you just have to remember that like most zoom lenses any camera shake will become more noticeable, so you need to be using a faster shutter speed than what you may normally use with a standard lens.
The lens is ideal for most kinds of photography and it is an ideal size zoom lens to have in your camera bag for all occasions. Iy gives good results for a very reasonable price. I am very happy with the resukts it has given me and i would recommend this to anyone. This review also appears on dooyoo
