Manufacturer's product description
The new Tandberg SLR Autoloader brings you the productivity and security of an automated tape solution, as well as the proven reliability of SLR technology, at an entry-level price that is easily justified. Accommodating one SLR tape drive and an eight-cartridge magazine, the Tandberg SLR Autoloader is designed to back up your system for a full week or up to two months without operator intervention, thereby saving resources and ensuring consistent, timely backups. From the intuitive LCD display to the cartridge magazine that secures all eight cartridges, the Tandberg SLR Autoloader accommodates users by offering an easy-to-use interface. For instance, setup of the Tandberg SLR Autoloader is accomplished in three easy steps in the control panel menu. In addition, the Tandberg SLR Autoloader display panel provides status information on the activity of the drive and loader mechanisms. Finally, a security code allows you to lock the loader and regulate access to the drive, cartridges and magazine.

Advantages: Fast, Quiet and Efficient Disadvantages: None
...quiet, relaxing music.
As for efficiency, the Seagate Momentus added another 25 minutes of battery life onto that of my IBM ThinkPad T21, from 3 hours 50, all the way to 4 hours and 5 minutes! The old 20GB Fujitsu disk must have really been guzzling some juice to use 25 minutes of power!
After having the drive for a few days I have decided not to get the 100GB disk as I have become so attached to the Momentus.
It truly is the most perfectly balanced laptop drive on the market today, so if you're in a buying decision, just don't think about it and BUY ONE! I promise you will never look back!...

Advantages: The fastest available,16 MB buffer, 4.6 ms seek time, 10000 rpm. Disadvantages: Very expensive, Little capacity
...drives. These new Raptors unfortunately run at the older 1.5 Gb/s SATA I speeds but there is no application that would be able to saturate this bandwidth anyway. These features add up to an out of this world 241 MBps Burst speed in HD Tach 3.1 (when setup in a RAID O configuration) and about 78 MBps write speed sustained for one drive. In fact, if you compare these drives to the ultra expensive and elite SCSI 15,000 RPM drives, you find that you will get about 90 to 120% of the performance for only about 30 to 50% of the price (and without any of the SCSI setup headaches).
Modders and hardware monkeys will love the new 150 GB Raptor X models because the top of the drive is transparent polycarbonate. The drive also looks damn nice with a tough industrial styling and heat fins on the side to help with thermal output. Also, do not forget...
