Easily pleased me, so when I walked down the sweetie aisle in Tesco yesterday I made a point of looking at all the sweets on offer; now don’t ask why these jumped into my basket all of a sudden. I just happened to see them and thought ah why not I’m allowed to treat myself occasionally – and well I’d never seen them before so thought really that I needed to try them so I could recommend them to everyone, or not if they were a bit rubbish…

Tango

Yeah it’s a surprise isn’t it that Tango make sweets, I did think it was a bit bizarre, when normally their catalogue of produced items is drinks, and that weird tango blast thing that foams in your mouth. Now they make chocolate treats too, they also make a Demolition Bar as well as the Balls, which I shall review later for your reading pleasure, compare the two!

Nutritional Values

They don't have the nutritional values on the packet so I'm making a big deal of them on here so everyone is aware...

Per 35g bag...

191 calories,
1.8g of protein,
19.9g of carbohydrates which sugar,
7g of fat which saturates,
0.6g of fibre,
0.2g of salt.

Demolition Really?

They are called demolition balls, but don’t expect anything major to happen when you bite into them, they are chunks of orange truffle apparently – according to the packet. It doesn’t taste very much like truffle, it just feels like smooth chocolate when you bite into it, an orange flavoured truffle – but then again there isn’t much distinction between the two. Sometimes you can bite into a chocolate and have two distinctive textures, well these don’t so don’t expect something magical when you bite into them. Yes the orange flavour is very orangey; it is like chomping down on a ball of tango drink – I’ll give them that it tastes like tango. The chocolate however is like cake chocolate it tastes awful, wrap it in Cadbury and I think they’d have been much better off if I’m honest. Now they’re meant to have crackles in them – they are very minimal crackles, to get a nice popping candy effect I think I had three balls in my mouth at once to make even the remotest sound. I mean they’re not all bad they taste as they should they’re very orangey and they taste chocolaty even if it’s naff chocolate… The popping candy lets it down but, if someone offered me one in the future I’d eat it – but probably wouldn’t buy myself another packet really. Given you only get about twelve in a packet you’re not going to get many if you share them out anyway – watch out for the big bags!

Price and Availability

For 55p a bag in Tesco they're not really worth getting about twelve in a bag, but they are something novel you might try them, and like them - don't take my word for it just try them and see for yourself. I haven't seen them anywhere else, but I'm sure they will pop up in all sorts of places before long!
