Kids today will probably think of Tango as a poor man's Fanta. I remember a time when it ruled supreme, with adverts of men in orange body suits going round slapping people. It was a wonderful time. But has the orange stuff stood the test of time? Can it compete with the Fanta market?

It sprung up controversy recently when it's advertising slogan was "Tango With Added Tango"...nothing untowards there, but as the slogan put the words on top of one another, if you put the first letters of each of the words together then you'll see the problem...see what I mean?!

Tango is simply an orange fizzy drink filled with sugar and sweeteners. on the black and orange can, it does state that 65% of people preferred Tango to other leading orange fizzy drinks in a blind taste test. Why? Well, it's a strong, sweet orange flavour - much better than the supermarket own brand stuff, but does it better or match Fanta for taste?

Well the two are very similar, as you'd expect. I'd argue the Tango is slightly gasier, which can be unpleasant. The orange taste does come from concentrate, so it's not entirely artifical, but you have to admit the presence of sweetners does spoil things. Having tried a fizzy orange drink such as the one made by Britvic, then I'd plump for that more or less everytime - it tastes natural and crammed with oranges, which is surely what you're after! Would I pick Fanta over tango though? Well, I bet 50% of people would have one, and the other 50% happily pick the other one. The two can't be seperated. The tastes are too similar.

The ingredients include...

Carbonated Water, Orange Fruit from Concentrate (8%), Glucose-fructose Syrup, Sugar, Citric Acid, Flavouring, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrate), Stabiliser (E1450), Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Sweeteners (Aspartame, Saccharin), Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Fractionated Coconut Oil, Colour (Beta-carotene). There's also a source of Phenylalanine.

A six-pack of this stuff is available in tesco for as little as £1.29 until the beginning of November as it's on a half-price offer. Therefore, if you're a fan of this from days gone by, or generally a orange soft drink individual, then pick yourself up a six-pack today!

Y'know, I did think the Tango With Added Tango was a big odd, didn't actually occur to me to do the 1st letter thing......
