turns your PDA into a laptop

Advantages: lightweight and easy to use and transport in a pocket
Disadvantages: not the easiest IR setup in the world

I got this to go with my acer n30 PDA (have a look at my review if your thinking of getting a new PDA, I would recommend an acer n30 to anyone) and was actually a little dissapointed. There's no mention of the fact that the IR (infrared) input on some devices just won't match up with the targus. It has a swiveling stick with the IR projector on one end but it has limited range in movement and won't actually turn to point at my PDA's IR port. I had to prop it up with book and things just to get it in the right possition. After I did though it worked perfectly and the keypad is easier on the fingers than a standard PC keyboard. I actually chose using my PDA and the targus to write essays instead of using the university PCs, so that'll give you an idea of how comfortable it is to use. There's not much that I can put in the way ...

Nokia N95 Bluetooth Keyboard

Advantages: Compact Size, Lightweight, Affordable
Disadvantages: Confusing shortcuts/hotkeys because of cramped key design

iGo Stowaway is a Wireless Bluetooth keyboard that I bought to use with my Nokia N95. To fully use this keyboard with this smartphone I think you have to install the N73 drivers which just involves installing one new application like usual. I think it is the smallest and most transportable bluetooth keyboard available as it folds in half. It also utilizes a stand that is useful for smart phones/PDA. The only competition i know of all do not fold in half and so are twice the size as the compact Stowaway! The differences between a normal PC keyboard are the 3 different types of key strokes using keys "FN (Left Blue) and FN (Right Green). This can be a bit confusing when you first use it. I bought mine for £23 from MyMemory.co.uk - that is the cheapest I found it for! Nokia N95 - Shortcuts Alt-Tab = Menu holding alt + tab ...

Review of IGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard keyboard

A useful pda asset

Advantages: Makes pda input much easier and quicker
Disadvantages: Often awkward to balance pda and keyboard together without sitting at a desk

I have had this keyboard for a little over a year now and whilst I don't use it frequently (I am not a business user) when I do use it I find it extermely useful. I use a Dell X50v pda and for a time the drivers for the keyboard didn't support the ROM version I had although I believe this was more a Dell problem than ThinkOutside's fault. Since getting the latest keyboard upgrade I have had no trouble getting the keyboard to work first time. A tip I have found is to browse to the thinkoutside site from the pda, if possible, and download directly to the pda from there - the site automatically detects which drivers you require. Once you have gone through the initial keyboard setup you should find that the keyboard will be recognised everytime you activate it (provided bluetooth is switched on on your pda), this means typing ...
