Overall, this is a really usefull addition to my work bag, and my only disappointment is that at a recent conference, I found someone giving an almost identical item away as a promotional toy, so now I have two and could have saved myself a few quid !

It's really small (5.0 x 1.6 x 8.3 inches, weight: 3.2 ounces) so takes up almost no space in my bag, and although it's great on a full size table/desk, it's just as easy to use in a small work space or even on a small airplane tray.
The Mini Optical Mouse is "only" USB 1.1, but that allows "plug and play" connection with USB sockets on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Macintosh OS, I believe. Just plug it in, wait a moment while Windows does its "Found New Hardware" stuff, and you're off ! No drivers to install or anything.
With "the latest optical sensor technology" (800dpi), this tiny mouse still seems to be precise on most surfaces, although it does struggle on high-gloss, as most optical mice do, and also features a retractable USB cable.
Not only is the cable extremely thin and light-weight, but you can make the length anywhere from almost nothing to 70cm and then retract it back down to nothing for transport. It's almost like having a wireless mouse, but without the added cost of batteries, or hassle when they go flat...
The tiny size does take a bit of getting used to, and It's "only" two button, plus a scroll wheel, so if you have a "fancy" multi-button, this won't be able to do any "tricks". Therefore, it's not really for all-day use, but is perfect for what I need.
Click the "Product Information" tab above for more details, and the "Compare Prices" tab for prices and availability. Today (April 07 2006), you'll see that you can get this from exciteit.co.uk for £10.85 inc VAT, which is not bad considering that buying it from the Targus website would set you back £13.00 ex. VAT !

Advantages: Small, but ideal with Laptops, and no excess wire everywhere Disadvantages: Would be difficult for people with arthritis but they do larger versions
...my partner bought me the Targus Super Mini Retractable,Optical mouse.
Since then my pleasure on my PC has really improved.
The mouse as it says is Super mini, but it has all the feature of a full size mouse.
Three button feature, left and right click buttons and very mini scroll wheel in the center.
The mouse has a USB plug to fit all pc`s with USB ports,
and in my opinion the most fantastic feature is the Retractable mouse cable.
This allows ... ...wires everywhere and when you are finished using the mouse you can just unplug it,Rectract all the cable and it comes complete with a Suede effect pouch for storage.
I find this product fantastic because,it is small and compact and easily fits into you laptop case,so you can use it whenever and where ever you use your Laptop.
The mouse also has an optical red underlight, for movement sensing rather than the standard, roll ball mouse.
This mouse ...
