DAB a DAB a DOO

Advantages: Improves radio quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Wires can get in the way, another thing to remember

Originally I am from London, but I have been living in Bournemouth now since 2001. I get home-sick every so often - you know being surrounded by the beach, grass and the sea makes me miss all the pollution ridden dirty grey concrete streets of home. Odd I know. One thing that keeps me going is that I can quite happily recieve my favourite London radio station, Absolute (previously Virgin) on MW - but it's not great quality I'll admit. So, when I first heard about these - it was actually through Absolute radio who were running competitions to win them, and after failing to win one myself, I thought - OK, I'll buy one. Now, it is pretty easy to use, and it has functions similar to the digital channels on TV now where you can pause and rewind live radio - which I haven't used except through boredom when waiting for the kid to ...

Teac reference 300 - best mini system under £1000

Advantages: Great Sound, Great Looks, Great Price
Disadvantages: Remotes a bit cheap, no USB port,

Having been in the market to downsize my old hi fi for something more compact, I've settled on the Teac reference 300 mkIII with DAB tuner. Its a 3 box system as opposed to the other smaller one box systems manufactured by Teac and others such as Denon, Arcam and Onkyo. As such, although being larger, it is more user friendly to use and has more power at 45 wpc RMS. At around £500 rrp it stands up favourably in price to the Arcam Solo Mini and comes in silver or black finish with machined aluminium fronts and a classy blue display on each unit. It actually appears slightly retro in appearance although the remotes are a bit cheap looking. The silver units can be found for as little as £349 without speakers so its quite a bargain. Sound quality for such a small unit is really clear and well defined with a warm bass typical of Teac ...

Review of Teac REF 300 DAB MK III

The Very DAB

Advantages: Inexpensive, decent output for a bedroom or smaller room, mp3 capability
Disadvantages: No good for a larger room due to the 5 watt output per speaker

with the correct jack lead which is not included. What?s In the Box The box is quite large and I was actually surprised at the weight which was 7 kilos. The box was fine for me to carry to and from the car but I wouldn?t have wanted to be carrying it about for any longer really. The box contains two speakers, the micro system, a DAB/FM wire antenna and a remote control. There is also a user manual included. Setting Up Set up was incredibly straightforward. The speaker cords need to be connected to the main micro system but this is easy ? you just insert the stripped part of the speaker cord into the correct speaker socket ? either L or R for each speaker. The antenna also needs to be attached to ensure the radio can pick up signals clearly. You then just plug it in and switch it on and you are almost ready to go. The micro system ...
