Advantages: Looks so cool! Fun to assemble Disadvantages: Don't misplace any pieces!
Me and my boyfriend received this for Christmas from my parents. We tried to make it together doing different parts, but since you have to follow the instructions very carefully and do one step after another this was not really working, so I just had to sit next to my boyfriend and watch while he did it!
My mum got this from John Lewis for £49.99 but it is also available from the Lego website for the same price. I have also seen Lego Technic available in Toys'R'Us so it is not hard to get a hold of.
Lego Technic looks quite different from the 'normal' Lego that we all know. The parts are smaller than the normal lego bricks. It is like a more 'grown up' lego. The models that you make with it are usually articulated and quite advanced.
The model took us around 6 - 7 hours to assemble. Very good for keeping people entertained! I ...
Advantages: Build quality. Disadvantages: Would be good to have a wider pitch range.
This is yet another update to the industry standard direct drive Technics SL1200 turntable. To be honest, this is not massively different to the M3 edition, the most noticeable difference is the white LED light and the anti-skate control (which I never adjust anyway).
As with all Technics, this plays records at either 33 or 45 rpm and you have the option to select the speed between -8% and +8%. This turntable also has the 'pitch reset' button which, if pressed, ignores the pitch selected on the fader and plays the record as if at 0%. A nice feature, although I hardly use it.
Putting the cartridge and stylus together was a tricky job but these things always are. After doing a fair few over the years I can do it fairly quickly but newcomers should always read the instructions very carefully before attempting it.
This is a great looking ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: A dancing dustpan which empties itself on your carpet, not robust and poor customer service
February 2008 I purchased a Ewbank 940 Power sweeper. Immediately on unpacking I saw there was no manual. I sent an e mail to Ewbank and they responded with an attached Adobe File. Putting it together I found the handle swivelled round so I sent this back and it was replaced. Quickly I discovered that it worked on a flat thin carpet sometimes chugging but not on mats I had which are 1.25 cm deep. The dustpan tipped over depositing its contents on the mat. Within the guarantee 12 mth period it stopped charging, further e-mails were sent and two batteries were despatched to me to replace those inside the dustpan cavity. I could not remove the contacts from the old batteries as I have weak hands. As well the tubes of the long handle fit together with pressure and plastic screws between the ends of each tube. One plastic "screw" was ...
