Advantages: Very well made, industry standard decks Disadvantages: Relative high price and few features compared to others
...Technics. Ask most DJs what there dream is and somewhere along the line it will involve Technics. The SL1210MK2 is the industry standard record deck, for a very good reason. They have excellent build quality and will survive even the toughest tests, essential for club use. The tonearm assembly is of the highest quality and as a result the sound output is beautiful. The direct drive motor has high torque and will start almost instantly and stop just as quickly.
Technics decks are the most reliable and nicest feeling record decks I have ever used. Everything on them feels like quality, and is.
Because of the relatively high price, these are probably not the best choice for amature DJs, although there is nobody who these won't be suited to these. Any type of mixing is possible....

...The first thing to understand,is that SL1200 and SL1210 are totally same. The only difference between theese two models are their colour, it's the 1200 is silver and the 1210 is black.
MK5 is the newest model.
Technics is purcased by Panasonic so this is Technics Panasonic Turntable. The technics technology remained in full, the S shaped tonearm remained also, the platters weight remained also, etc...
MK5 is improoved, like the antis skating adjustment is 6 grammes.
The pitch control fader is also better, it has no "click" at the 0 percent, so it gives you more precision while mixing around 0 %. Also the light on the pitch control is blue, plus a continuous pitch shift with a reset control for really 100% precision.
I prefer this to pro DJs, also for beginners if they are not buying some cheaper Stanton or Numark, but don't prefer...

Advantages: fully featured Disadvantages: inferior quality build, changes sound of scratching
...A good deck with a wealth of features. The fact that it speeds up so fast changes the way scratching sounds, for the worse. You don't get the classic sound as the disk gets back up to speed :( I think they made this feature so they could say they're 'better' than technics, but they went and changed one of the fundamental sounds of scratching. The technics torque, imo, is perfect and produces exactly the sound I want when it accelerates. As to the other features, personally I think they're overkill, except for the ability to play your record backwards. Although, I've never done that at an actual gig, it is fun when u r f'ing around.
As far as the build quality goes, I don't think it's in the same league as the technics. It is really light and seems to be made of inferior parts. The technics exudes precision engineering at every...

Do you remeber vinyl records - black plastic discs that scratched easily and came in 12" and 7" flavours. Well if you're in your early teens you probably will not know what I'm talking about. Unless you love dance music and collect dance tracks on 12".... more
