For years and years when i was younger just geting in to Djing all i wanted was a pair of technics.
after a few years with other direct drive decks i finally saved enough money to buy a pair i of technics, i bought the SL1200Mk2 because they were silver i did not like the brown of the 1210 much.
i have read around and talked to people ... ...difference in build quality. the technics weight alot compared to any other turntable, this is because the bottom black base you see is not made of cheap moulded plastic, its made of a thick heavy rubbery stuff which helps cut out vibrations from very loud sound systems making feed back not such a problem.

Technics 1200 / 1210 what more can you say its the number one DJ turntable on the planet.
For years and years when i was younger just geting in to Djing all i wanted was a pair of technics. after a few years with other direct drive decks i finally saved enough money to buy a pair i of technics, i bought the SL1200Mk2 because they were silver i did not like the brown of the 1210 much. i have read around and talked to people and aparently the only difference between the 1200 and the 1210 is the colour.
I set up my new 1200s and got the tunes out. Wow what a turntable, after years of trying out all other types of direct drive turntables i could instantly see and feel the difference in build quality. the technics weight alot compared to any other turntable, this is because the bottom black base you see is not made of cheap moulded plastic, its made of a thick heavy rubbery stuff which helps cut out vibrations from very loud sound systems making feed back not such a problem. The platter is stainless steel and also has a good weight to it. when you press the strat button you can feel the torque pull the weight of the platter to full speed almost instantly. once spinning the strength of the motor is far better than any thing i have used before if feels right. touching the platter to make small adjustments to my mix is now so easy and smooth. the pitch slider feels solid and precise there is no fiddilyness to it.
nearly all the parts are meatal and the whole thing feels solid. the tone arm is fully adjustable with a very easy to use mechanisim also containing anti skate. the anti skate seems to actually work on the technics, most other turntables that have this function never seem to get it right no matter how much you try to work it out.
Technics 1200 / 1210 are the only turntable to concider if you are serious about DJing or mixing, it does not matter where you go in this world or to which club you go to they always have technics, so your mixing at home is the same where ever you go play.
i have had my 1200s a few years now and never once had a problem never not one
Advantages: Too many to list. Disadvantages: One minor defect (see conclusion)
of a single turntable. This is not very suitable for today?s type of clubs. The first direct drive turntable was the SP-10 and was only replaced ten years later with the SL-1200MK2 which was inspired by Technics in the way that their aim was to manufacture a turntable which was built not only for quality but durable enough to cope with sustained, heavy-duty use. This set the standard for direct drive turntables designed specifically for club environments and DJs who wanted to play a continuous flow of music without any gaps and be able to do this by changing the speeds of the records. Previous versions of turntables did not even have pitch control so you can imagine how difficult that would have been. The design of the 1210 has not changed noticeably since the 1200 series and only minor modifications are made in each new variation. These ...
