With my experience of this turntable I would say it is a very good turntable for the use of Dj'ing. The only thing I dont agree with about this turntable is the price. As other Dj turntables produces began to make turntables of the same quality and standard for lower prices the technics deck is starting to become outdated. Though it's becoming outdated it still holds the same price. With the MK 5, it has nothing really new to offer, only accessories which hardly justify the new pricing of the turntable.
New features of the MK5 are a dipless pitch control, a hingeless lid, so it's easier to take off and recessed power button to stop you accidently turning it off. Aitch reset button, which is basically quartz lock and a longer lasting cue lamp. These new features, to me, hardly justifying the general adding of 70-100 pounds to the price tag. This would take the price tag to around 430 pounds. This was the price tag when these turntables 1st came out. But if you shop around you can get them for around 370 pounds. But then you can pick up the MK2 for around 320 pounds.
For the amount you would spend on this turntable, you can get a turntable with just the same quality with more useful features available, for example higher torque, more pitch range, reverse play, anti-skip tone arms etc...
If you are insistent on buying a technics then I would recommend you buy the MK2 because the MK 5 offers little more for the more expensive price tag you have to pay.
For what it's worth this turntable is a great to DJ on but the competition offers better for the same price or even less. I recommend that it's time to move on the technics legend.

Torque of around 1.5kgs I think, which is quite low compared to it's new rivals, with it's Direct drive motor.
S shaped tone arm, better than a straight one in terms of audio quality.
Dust cover, handy in prolong the life of your turntable
Longer lasting cue lamp, but still hard to replace once it's gone.
Tone arm pick up lever
Height adjustable tone arm, allows you to set you needles correctly.
Anti-skate control, useful for scratching
Pop up target light, always handy in dark nightclubs
Quartz lock, useful if you want to record one LP to use it to mix on a cd, for example.
Technics slipmat included, which is quite tasty! Internally fitted phono leads. To me this can be annoying, as you can't upgrade to better quality audio cables Internally fitted power leads
120/240 volts switchable. Can be useful if you move to another country.
