Recently the 1210's from technics have been under seige for the number one spot. they have been industry standard for over thirty years and every1 knows when you at the top you always have someone waiting for you to make your mistake. So Its unfortunate for the competition that technics dont really do mistakes and they are number one for a reason. They are not much to look at but the build quality and durability are out of this world, words cannot describe how smooth these turntables feel at your fingertips, i personaly have had 2 sets in the past the mark 3's and the mark 2's i own today ( my original decks are still going strong being used by a friend who bought them when i needed space )

They sell from anywhere between 500 to 600 pounds each brand new or you can pick up a second hand pair for below 600 pound. I personally picked mine up for 350 pounds from a club manager i knew who was replacing them.
If you decide to buy second hand i recommend you take them to a reputable place in your local area to give them a quick service costing around 50 pounds and they where as far as i could tell as good as new. as mentioned the rivals all claim to be as good but the fact is only time will tell, if in thirty years time someone shows me a pair of todays other "leading" turntables still ploughing away i will hold my hands up but in the meantime i'll keep them firmly on the platter of my 1210s.Features
Direct drive turntable
  1. +/- 8% pitch range
  2. 33 and 45 rpm
  3. S shaped tone arm
  4. Tone arm pick up lever
  5. Height adjustable tone arm
  6. Anti-skate control
  7. Pop up target light
  8. Strobe illuminator
  9. Dust cover
  10. 7 inch spindle adaptor
  11. Quartz lock
  12. Black deck
  13. Internally fitted phono leads
  14. Internally fitted power lead

As i Previously mentioned they are not the sexiest pair of turntables ive ever seen or used but thats not what i want them for, but if you are attracted to all things shiney dont be duped into buying a different pair just pick yourself up some 1210s and visit hard to find records dot com and purchase yourself a deck cover specialy designed for the 12-10's which come in gold, silver and a chrome mirror effect (roughly 80 quid for the pair).

Message to parents-
If your reading this with a view of buying turntables for a son or daughter who is just starting out you may wish to buy something cheaper to begin with just to make sure they actualy keep up with the dejaying But when they do progress this is without doubt what they should be progressing too.
