Advantages Low power consumption, good picture quality

Disadvantages Not the most fully-featured box around

As the model number would suggest, this is the twin SCART version of the TechnikaECO1STBA08, previously described here as one of the best value for monet Freeview boxes on the market. Being the owner of the single SCART model, and looking for something that would allow decent VCR compatibility, I went for this, and wasn't disappointed.

If you're familiar with the ECO1, this is essentially identical in operation, using the same basic internal hardware. The standby power consumption is still low, and the same generic EPG is used. For those who desire it, I believe that this will soon be capable of receiving the Teletext Extra EPG, which apparently has more features, but this will be an optional choice.

While my version still has the older EPG seen in the ECO1, the ones on sale now have 'grid-style' ones. These show more channels at a glance and are generally easier to use. On the newer ones, though, the subtitles are incoporated into the green utton on the remote, requiring you to press 'INFO' first. That's OK, but the INFO key is labeleed differently in the EPG to on the remote!

Overall, as a budget solution, I'd recommend it above some of the other supermarket own-brand products, but with the warning that many of these products are the same but in different cases, show shop around. While the product get 4/5 overall, I'd give the older version a 3 just because of its lack of features.
