I feel the need to write this review, purely because i wouldn't want ANYBODY going through what i had to go through with my attempted purchase of a laptop from these internet jokers.
I placed my order for an 'Acer Aspire 5633WLMi Laptop Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHZ 1GB 120GB DVDRW 15.4TFT Vista HP - LX.AY30X.091' for £478.23 on 31.07.2007, taking out their offer of buy now and pay in 9 months with able2buy finance so we could keep the money in an interest account and make money on it before paying off the laptop 9 months later. The finance was accepted, the order was confirmed and i was given an order number as reference.
I also received an email from Robbie Wilson, stating that once able2buy had told them it was fine to deliver the item, that my item i'd ordered would be delivered to me by next day delivery. I sent my signed credit agreement back to able2buy and a couple of days later, received an email from
them stating
'Thank you for applying for credit through able2buy.
We confirm that we have received your signed credit agreement and have instructed the retailer to deliver your goods.'
'Excellent' i thought, I'd have the laptop fairly soon, which was a bonus, since we were travelling down south that weekend and it would come in handy. I rang Technoworld to make sure the price hadn't come down in the few days it had been from my credit agreement being sent, and was told that it was the same price and that they had 27 in stock so once the relevant person had contacted me to arrange delivery, I should have it the day after.
I then waited a day and a half to be contacted by Technoworld to sort out delivery of the item, but they never called. At the end of the second day since receiving my email from able2buy, I contacted Technoworld to arrange it myself, only to be told that the laptop was in fact out of stock and also end of life, which meant they would not be getting any more back in. I explained that i had an order confirmation and that the item was in stock when i ordered it and when I had called a couple of days prior, so surely there must have been one reserved for me, otherwise what was the point in me actually placing the order and getting an order confirmation. I was then told that items are not reserved when you place an order with them and that the item had gone out of stock earlier that day, to which I replied that since able2buy had confirmed TWO days ago that it was fine to ship my item that the item would therefore have still been in stock anyway, regardless of their inability to reserve items when an order is placed for them.
They then told me that they cannot keep track of orders placed to reserve the item which in my opinion is ludicrous.. as what's the point in having a website and ordering system if they're basically telling me that it doesn't even work?!
I spent almost 2 hours on the phone to them trying to get to the bottom of things and being offered various laptops that either costed way more but had similar specifications, ones that costed a bit more with worse specifications and the really cheap ones that for me were not even worth considering because of the incredibly low specifications.
The phone call got me no further with my order and I was left hanging in the air about one possible laptop that was also out of stock, but *could* come back in stock within the 2 weeks following the call. The laptop I considered was a similar spec and still had a dedicated (although a bit worse) graphics card which was a must for us as my partner would be using it for games and some photoshop work but costed an extra £40.
4 weeks later, I contacted technoworld as I had still not heard anything from them regarding my purchase. I was told that the 2nd laptop was now in stock, so we started going through the process to change my order.. 'great' I thought, we were finally getting somewhere, until they were confirming the specification with me.. only to be told that this laptop did not have a dedicated graphics card and not only did it not have a graphics card they then told me they were no longer dealing with the finance company that I had been accepted for credit. Instead I'd have to reapply to the new finance company, thus gaining another search on my credit file AND then I'd have to pay them £30 'admin' fee!
By this time I was fuming but still determined to get a laptop after all this messing about, so I went onto their website to see if there was yet ANOTHER laptop that I could replace the original one I ordered with. The only one I saw was £100 more expensive and the only difference between the 2 laptops was that the more expensive laptop had an extra gig of RAM, but I could buy and install myself for £25 max. I asked if anything could be done with the price because of all the messing about I've been subjected to, the extra £30 I would have to pay to the finance company, and because of the difference in actual cost of the RAM to what was being charged on the laptop, only to be told that they could not as they only make about £5 on each laptop sold.
This was all more than I was willing to pay so in the end I told them to cancel the order. They emailed me to say the order was cancelled and that they would inform the finance company of the same.. the ordeal was finally over and while may not have got the laptop i Iwanted, at least I didn't have to deal with them ever again.. or so I thought!
This week (14th November) we received a statement from the finance company still stating that we owed them this money and to remind us that we'd be paying interest once the 9 month period was over. We called them to ask why this had not been adjusted, only to be told that they needed the retailer to inform them of this.. so they hadn't even bothered to do that for us. I spent another 45 minutes on the phone that evening trying to sort it out.. which I have hopefully done now, but won't know for sure until maybe the end of the week, *fingers crossed* for that one then. Wish me luck.
I know this 'review' has turned into a bit more of a rant, and I apologise for this but I felt the need to make sure I could get this message out to as many people as possible who were ever considering using these fools.
I wish I could give them a minus rating, I really do but unfortunately this is not possible so 1 it is.. but don't be fooled by this, I would have gladly given less if I could.

Sorry you had such a problem with them. I got my laptop form them (same model pretty much) and I had no problems

Reporting the last 3 users as it's obvious that you're working on behalf of technoworld after i told you i would rate you down on a review site. So obvious.
