The Tefal Prissima has been n a life saver for my daily life. Since I do not work and my fiance does, it is sort of a nonspkoken agreement that I would do most of the cooking until I am able to get a job. One of the most important parts of the kitchen for me is to have something to deepfry in. That along with a George Foreman grill. Well since we had nothing to deep fry in I felt out of place, almost did not know how to cook some things without it. Well off I went to Argos, Marks and Spencers and all the other home improvement stores in the area.
After about 2 days of shopping around and comparing the quality and price of each of the deep fryers that I found within my price range I decided upon the Tefal Prissima.
Before I go on about this particular Deep Fryer let me give a little bit of Tefals details. This information was found while I was doing some research, at the Tefal homepage before buying the "right" deep fryer for me.
Tefal which is a combination of the words Teflon and Aluminum was first invented in 1954 by the French engineer Marc Gregoire, although the Tefal company was not founded until 1956. At this time Tefal was mainly just making their famous non-stick frying pans. Tefal has now developed into an "all around" house hold product manufacturer now dedicated to making pressure cookers, irons, scales, bakeware, kitchen utensils, steamers, kettles, food processors, toasters and many other items. Tefal has become a name we can rely upon for almost all of our kitchen needs. It was not until 1987 that Tefal came out with the first Coolwall Deep Fryer. And that takes us to the product in hand.
The Tefal Prissima is one of there recent Coolwall Deep fryers. What Coolwall means in laymans terms is that there is a hard plastic outer shell around the fryer itself. This keeps the heat on the inside and safe for you to touch on the outside. The Tefal Prissima has a oil compacity between 1 and 2 liters, which means that it can fry alot of stuff at once, a hinged lid that has with a filtered section for its breathablity and locks into place when closed (Don't worry to unlock it all you have to do is depress the button right below it.), adjustable heat setting, a nice sized food basket with a bendable handle when storing, and a power on/off switch located on the body so you do not have to worry about turning the main on and off all the time.
The Users manual that came with the Tefal Prissima is not unit specific. It is one of there general user manuals that covers the general class of this type deep fryer. Even though it is not specific to my deep fryer I have found it to be very useful. It explains how to clean the unit properly by giving basically step by step instructions of disassembly and reassembly. It gives the do's and don'ts of cooking with a deep fryer. It even has a basic cooking temperature and timing menu for fresh and frozen foods. This is what I have found to be the most helpful. It also goes into discussion about which is the better type oils to use and which ones not to use in the fryer.
Overall I would have to rate the Tefal Prissima deep fryer a very good buy for the money. At only about 34 or 35 pounds it is very durable, sturdy and safe for household use.
