Advantages STILL A GREAT STEAM GENERATOR, GREAT FEATURES, GREAT FINISH IN HALF THE TIME
Disadvantages TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IS AN OLD MODEL IN NEW COLOURS
As the owner of a small ironing business I have had my share of trial and error with different ironing system. I have, however found that the Tefal range and especially the Tefal pro expressGV8150 was the best one I have had. Well, to my surprise, Tefal have got a new version. Just had to get it (well business expense and all) and see if the new and improved version would once again enrich my lonely days of ironing.
Decided to order it and wait with trepidation for the delivery(have to get the excitement where you can). Once it had arrived, end of the day as usual, I couldn't wait to try it out so I got some of my own ironing and got going(yes sucker for punishment, I know). All my previous experiences with new versions was always a treat as they always had something more to offer. I opened the box to unravel a very similar looking iron albeit with a purply tinge instead of the blue and a see-through water tank(very space age). So I plugged it in and waited the two minutes and off I went.Well, needless to say that my excitement was short lived. It was the same iron for an extra £50.00 on the price. There was no differrence on the previous version except for the somewhat updated appearance and inflated price tag.
As much as I would recommend the GV8150 to anyone who cares to listen as it halves the ironing time and delivers great finish, I would probably give the same advise for this one until the price reflects the old model. Now, Don't get me wrong, it offers the same great finish and is a really good steam generator but if you are thinking of upgrading: DON'T, at least until the price has dropped or unless you are keen to be seen with a new coloured iron. All I would say is that for the same ironing features get the GV8150 while you can and while it is still available as the prices for it will now drop due to this new version.
I do not see why Tefal has thought that this was necessary except that they just want more cash for what is essentially the same product(shame on them). All I have to say to them is "why fix what is not broken".
It still has the two minute warm up, the great steam output, the ease of use and the non stick sole plate with all the same specs as follow:
Main specsAutomatic Shut Off: No
Cordless: NoCork Handle: No
Drip Stop: NoHigh Pressure Steam: Yes
Lime-scale Prevention: NoMaximum Wattage: 2200
Permanent Water Refill: YesRemovable Tank: Yes

Steam Output in Grams per Minute: 170Steam Pressure in Bars: 5
Travel Iron: NoType: Steam Iron

Besides all this I would say save yourself some money and go for the older(but by no means lesser GV8150). I know I am doing this right now.
