The top of the new filter cartridge is a rotary lid with a window revealing about four weeks of a calendar that is described around the circumference of filter cartridge. This allows you to record the month and week that you replaced the filer cartridge so when you remove it you can see how long it has been installed.
The replacing the Claris Filter Cartridge is required about every four weeks. This is indicated by a red flashing light in the red hot water dispensing button. Replacing the first filter seemed quite a little fiddly task. But now, after the practice of a couple replacements, this is a straightforward and simple process. You remove and replace the filter cartridge with a twist and lift and push and twist rather like fitting a bayonet-cap light bulb.
Every other month/filter replacement, especially if you live in particularly hard water area, it is a good idea that the Quick Cup is de-scaled. No special chemicals are required. You only need a litre of cheap white vinegar poured into the water tank and press both the ambient and hot water buttons together to start the de-scaling process and pass the vinegar through the system. Once de-scaled the temperature of the water increases noticeably. All in all this is a great boon for dispensing filtered water for all your drinks.
