Advantages Breakfast in one simple appliance
Disadvantages Toaster shelves slightly too small in the length department
I have had this combi egg-toaster for over two years now and I still use both elements to this day! My first inclination to buy this was purely for cosmetic reasons, the colour and the style, but having used this consistently for a long period of time I cannot praise this Tefal machine enough.
The toaster element has an easy 'slide' heat setting that I have always found to be very responsive and simple to use, along with this it has the usual cancel button so you don't have to yank the handle up. As a bagel addict again I can safely say I have had no problems whatsoever fitting these into the toaster slots. You often find with thinner toaster elements that these can become wedged and you end up with lumps of bagel instead of two slices. One drawback with the toasting element is the length of the slots, with some loaves of bread being too long to fit in and you end up having to turn the slice halfway or a result of half toast half untoasted bread. It is also pretty good at defrosting bread and crumpets with the easy to use change in temperature. There is a crumb tray underneath that is simple to remove and stops any fire alarms going off!The fact that you can even dream of doing your eggs in the same appliance as toasting your bread I think is amazing, it certainly saves having to get all the pans out. There is the option to boil or poach the eggs and you can synchronise these with the toaster so they are both ready at the same time. The section of the appliance used to cook the eggs comes apart and can be cleaned very easily which is a necessity when using a product like this. There is room for four eggs if you want boiled which is good for a couple, but I guess not so for a weekend family breakfast.
Considering we paid nearly £40 for this when it was relatively new on the market I think it was money well spent, the product not only looks the part, but is good quality and has withstood two house moves since we purchased it. When friends come over they are always impressed with it and I am doubt I will be replacing it anytime soon unless some unfortunate event takes place.Detailed Rating
