This is one of those items that I thought I'd get, it would be a bit of a fad, and would end up stuck in the cupboard. I was wrong though!
Maybe I'm naive, but it's surprising how much you can actually cook using this, it's not just for steaming your veg at all. I have also steamed fish, rice, even a whole chicken, and my mum has made a chocolate cake (which was delicious, and because it came from a steamer, you could kid yourself it was healthy!).
You would think it was a hassle to use, but it's actually easier than you'd think, because you can use one, two or all three of the bowls, you can cook a whole meal in it, so there is actually less washing up.
Also, the middle bits come away, so you can put a whole chicken in, and this also makes it easier to clean (the bowls go in the dishwasher too).
You can't 'over-do' veg in a steamer either, which is handy if the phone rings etc, and of course steaming keeps in all the goodness which boiling gets rid of.
It's also really handy if you're doing a big sunday dinner, and don't have enough pans for all the veg you want to do and they all need to be ready at the same time, you can do carrots, brocolli, cauliflour, potatoes in here, freeing up 4 pans straight away!
It has a simple timer on it, which is perfectly adequate, and when it gets to the end it stops steaming, but the veg will stay warm if you don't take the lid off.
If you (like me) don't think you'd use this enough to bother purchasing it, try it, and you'll be plesantly surprised.
