What Hi Fi, now what does this title suggest. Does it mean, What Hi Fi?, hmm which stuff shall I choose, or is it What, Hi Fi? Do not be a silly chap this stuff is all too expensive do not bother with it? Or could the title be a strange greeting to a person called Fi!
Well, it is as you will have all guessed a magazine to help you the consumer choose the right Hi Fi, equipment, to make your lounge sound like heaven when you play your music; unless of course you play Steps or S Club 7, when all decent music playing equipment throws a tantrum and jumps out of the window to stop it being subjected to such rubbish! In fact it is CD player and speaker hell to have such manufactured music played through it. Ohh how many teenagers did I just offend.
As, you may know I recently needed new Hi Fi equipment and so my starting point was ...

Advantages: Quality MP3 player, easy to use Disadvantages: no Bluetooth, radio not DAB
Firstly the model being reviewed is a Creative Zen X-Fi 8Gb (not 8GO)
I chose Creative because they have been in the PC soundcard business for over 15 years and have a very good reputation with soundcard technology.
The Zen X-Fi is a fantastic little MP3 player, which incorporates a video player, a picture viewer and a radio.
Price paid was £87 at Amazon.co.uk with free delivery.
Standard memory capacity for this model is 8Gb (about 2000 x 4mb songs), but there are also 16Gb (£120) & 32Gb (£199) versions.
It also has a SD/SDHC slot for increased memory capacity - an 8Gb SDHC card costs £10-£15
The SDHC does not integrate with the players own memory so your can't create a playlist with songs from the respective memories.
The Zen X-Fi looks very sleek and attractive, being about the size of a credit card, about 1cm thick ...

the status of the device - lighting green when the volume is adjusted or a track skipped and flashing green for 10 seconds when the iPod is paused.
The iPod itself sits in a docking port on the top of the device - adapters are provided so that you can use any iPod model with the HiFi. It sits, in the centre, at a slightly reclined angle and this it my only real concern about the whole thing. There's not much holding the iPod in place other than the docking connector, so while the whole thing is of a size that you COULD walk down the high street with it on your shoulder, the iPod is held precariously enough that I would strongly advise against it. That said, in the last 2 months I've not had any problems fitting, removing the iPod. Also on the top are two touch-sensitive buttons, labelled "-" and "+" which, unsurprisingly, control the volume ...
