Teksta has a light sensor, a sound sensor, a mouth sensor (so you can feed him using his special bone), a nose sensor which will keep him out of trouble as if it hits an object it will automatically stop, a head sensor which you use to praise him and a neck sensor so you can scratch behind his ears. Upon removing him from the box, which isn't easy to do and needs a lot of adult help, you will have a plastic eight week old puppy with more sensors than you can shake a stick at making him one of the most interactive toys I have ever come across. My eight year old daughter got Teksta for Christmas and I have to admit weeks later we are still trying to figure out what it can do and unlike other interactive toys it is still on its first set of batteries and an on/off button. So far it has given hours of fun, puzzled the adults, had the kids in fits of laughter and really annoyed our real dog.
You can also use the mode button to program and train your puppy. Bit it gets better, Teksta can also be programmed to be an alarm clock that will wake you every morning at the time you specify and it comes boxed with its own card trick, it will also, like most toys of its kind, interact with other Teksta puppies.
Still wondering how to find your way around the 150+ emotions in your new friend? then try the Teksta website (http://www.tekno-robot.com/index1.html) which gives pictures of the dog and for owners you can access the Top secret area where you can get tips on training your puppy and you can join the owners club.
When my daughter started dropping hints about getting one of these for Christmas my first impression was 'no way', we have been through the Furbies and the like and I thought this is going to be a big waste of money. I'm glad now that I did fork out the £40 for it as it has proved to be one of the most played with toys in the cupboard and its not just my daughter who loves a survey recently voted the Teksta puppy joint 1st interactive toy.
The only downside to this toy apart from the price is batteries, you can only use alkaline type. The product could come with a clearer instruction manual although the website helps if you run into problems. Overall its a great little toy but I think it would be more suited to younger children (6-10 years) as my eldest daughter (who is 12) thinks its just plain annoying.
Advantages: lots to explore with him, good expressions and noises Disadvantages: price is a bit high, box is like fort knox
Teksta is one of the latest interactive toys. He is a puppy dog who you can programme to do a variety of things like walk, talk, pass wind, eat, sleep, howl, bark, dance etc etc. He has a series of sensors on his nose, mouth, behind ears (he loves them scratched), neck, back etc and you press them in certain sequences to make him do different things. This is quite hard for children under 5 to do.
He also has some more advanced functions that make ... ...is fully interactive with other Teksta doggie friends, but at £40 I doubt you can afford to buy him many pals. I don't know how the batteries last, but we are still on the demo ones that came with him so not too bad so far.
Much better, cleaner and more fun than the real thing. We do also have the real thing and she was not amused when she first saw Teksta, she stood with her ears pricked up and she growled at him, so he must be quite realistic ...

Advantages: Very popular with children Disadvantages: Does not live up to expectations
TEKSTA - the robotic dog - will be top of a lot of children's wish lists this year. I bought one for my son's sixth birthday in September and it is now seldom looked at. He soon realised that the dog was not all it is made out to be. Lets start at the beginning. To get the dog out of its packaging requires a screwdriver and a great deal of manual dexterity. Allow at least 10 minutes. When you get the dog out of the box and switch it on, you soon ... ...a straight line. It cannot turn corners or go backwards. It has a button on the end of its nose that is supposed to stop it when it walks into something. It does not always work and the toy tries to continue walking making a loud noise. Now to the tricks. The owner's manual is not written for children under 10. An adult is required to read the instructions for performing tricks. A larger manual with more illustrations would have been better. Battery ...

Advantages: Not messy compare to a real puppy! Disadvantages: frustrating
TEKSTA -A robot puppy. Just like a real dog...I dont think so. I bought this for my son (5yrs)last christmas. He wanted a real dog but i thought this is the next best thing. I was wrong. Removing from the package and setting it all up isn't that easy. Hence, needs an adult to do it. Instructions after instructions. Finally, I was able to set it up.Yes, it barks, do tricks (only when you mastered some more instructions that can be found in their website),wags ... ...you call its name and starts to walk. It's very slow and can't hardly make its steps because of our carpeted floors. & it doesnt seem to go in direction you want it to go. Without the manual or online guidance you will get stuck w/ Teksta.Dont recommend it as it will only frustrate your little one! ...
