Advantages: Get to talk to your friends, do 2 things at once and can get one cheap Disadvantages: Volume and deleting
On buying this handheld phone, I knew what i was getting from the word Hands Free. If your like me and you dont have a lot of money, the house phone isnt top of your priorties or you want to be able to move from room to room while talking then this is a cheap answer to your prayers. However, the volume is rubbish (3 choices), the thrid not being that loud, the time to answer the phone is minimal and deleting old messages seems like an algebra equation ...
After only recently having had a phone line put into our flat and having to put up with an old cast off phone from my parents (which kept cutting out due to a dodgy cable) we decided to fork out and buy a new one! A quick browse through the handy Argos catalogue told us that you could get a fairly reasonable phone for a very cheap price. We really only wanted one to make basic calls on and nothing too fancy.

It comes in a simple small box big enough just to fit the receiver and the cables it comes with. There is a small instruction booklet also contained within.

Review of Binatone Trend
Advantages: price, appearance Disadvantages: battery compartment, uncomfortable to hold
Overall the phone is good value for money. But the phone can be a little uncomfortable to hold and use, also the battery compatment is a swine to open and close, as it has a spring and is curved so I had to use a knife, and ended up scuffing it, but once you have the batteries in you will not need to do it again. However overall the battery life is quite long and it is an attractive slimline phone which you will eventually get use to. Also it is ...

Review of Idect Idect X1
Advantages: Good styling, Comfortable to use Disadvantages: 100% Unreliable
I bought two X3i single units one for each line in my house. They look and feel superb, are very comfortable even during long calls, and whilst the features are limited are comparable to the features offered on most other Dect handsets.
Problems started about a week after I got the phones. The landline phone range steadily reduced until you had to be standing next to the base station to use it. The handset on the VoIP line's display started breaking ... ...received replacements within a few days; the Land line phone worked for 2 days and then stopped picking up if it was on charge so it was impossible to answer calls. The line quality on the VoIP handset was also noticeably poorer then the previous faulty handset.
So basically from 4 handsets I suffered 100% unreliability. I am going back to my clunky old reliable BT. ...

Review of Idect Idect X3I
Advantages: Large buttons, Visual ring indicator, Speakerphone setting Disadvantages: anonying ring tone,
I brought this phone for my parents on the basis of it's speaker phone facility and large buttons. It cost £14 via amazon although you could probably get it cheaper if you shopped around. It came complete with 2 screws for the supplied wall mounting should you require a free standing set up.
It needs three AAA's to work and they don't come with the phone. I wasn't aware of this when I brought it which meant a trip to the shops before my parents ... ...expected this because it does have a LCD screen built into the telephone.
The larger buttons are suppose to make it easier for people with eye sight problems etc to use. However should you want to programme your favorite telephone numbers into the phone address book for speed dial's etc you will have to use the 'little' buttons and depending on how many contacts you want to enter this could take awhile. One of the benefits of entering numbers into ...
