Hello? Can You Hear Me??
Advantages: Nice/good looking, easy to use, answer machine on board. Disadvantages: No screen display to show whos calling.
I was bought this phone as a House warming present and I have to admit, I never read the instructions… but then … who does. This brings me on to say how easy it is to find your way around it.
It comes with the obvious buttons, being: Hands free, redial, R and volume control. And additionally it has a store button for quick dial numbers and a quick dial button.
It can hold up to 10 quick dial numbers. One option available is to mix manual and memory ... ...area code from the memory and then complete the number manually.
The Phone comes with an answer machine, with ‘record your own message’ facility. And also two pre recorded messages which has two ways to answer, A) ‘Hello, your call cannot be taken at the moment, so please leave your message after the tone’ B) ‘Hello, your call can not be taken at the moment and you cannot leave a message, so please call later’
I don’t know about you, but I actually ...

A Watched Phone Never Rings
Advantages: Speaker phone and nice design Disadvantages: A little complicated
I can't say I'm involved in the telephone selecting decisions in the house, however I think it's fair to say I am involved in using it. Binatone's slogan is 'innovation you can afford', costing £39.95 back in 2005 for the MD 750 Twin set - called that because it comes with two phones, duh. I've just spent the past half an hour rummaging through the boxes under the stairs and finally came out all dusty with the box, so now the review can commence.
... ...looking slightly stylish in design, showing the product and then having something written about the product beside it.. as well as in four different other languages below that. 'Digital cordless telephones with answering system'. Now I'm sure in my household we don't take full advantage of the many features this phone apparently has, because whilst we already have an answering machine with NTL - it wasn't until just now I knew you could set up an ...

Amstrad Emailer 1000
Advantages: Address book attached, quite good fun Disadvantages: Expensive, and a bit unnecessary really
This phone is quite simply a gimmick, unless you really will make use of all its features, and don't have any access to similar facilities elsewhere. Logically, it is not worth buying a phone which enables you to email, by dialling a premium rate number to send/receive (this includes checking your emails automatically every day, on the premium rate line), when you can probably already send emails via a computer. Nor do we need to send texts at 50p ... ...mobile phone. This phone is great fun for the first week or so but then becomes an expensive irritation. It is also large and cumbersome, taking up much more space than the average phone.
It does have a few advantages: the electronic address book, the attached answer machine, and the large screen displaying a clock. These are simple and do not cost any more than the initial cost of the phone. The phonebook is particularly useful, as when combined ...

emailer
Advantages: Stylish and versatile Disadvantages: Ongoing rip off charges, premium line rates, average £200+ pa
...the daily call to the Amstrad server cost about 18p each time, sometime sthe emailer will call up several times a day
say 3 times a day at 20p x 365 will cost you £219 per year.
Nice bonus for Amstrad. Want to call them for advice just go ahead and then you pay premium line rates. Get the picture?
Nice versatile phone but when PC's and Laptop prices falling every month, you could buy a quality PC based on the Emailer costs every 18 months.
If ...

Your Fired!
Advantages: make and recieve calls and emails, loud speaker function Disadvantages: requires power, recieve adverts, expensive to use emails
...irritating feature. These range from Amstrad products to cinema listings, adult chat lines, fast food, games etc. For each advert you have the option to press a button and connect to the 'net' for more information. (obviously at a cost) Having never used this function, I'm unsure how much this would cost. However, I am told that downloading games for instance cost 50p for four games or £1 for a month. This is where the cunning money making starts, ... ...phone had been dialing up every 15 minutes or so to check for emails, and this can get quite costly at aroud 15p per check. Being unaware that the phone was doing this until recently, I have only just discovered that you can turn this function off so that it does not dial up. Sending a text, again, something I haven't done from the phone costs an additional 50p per text. The adverts are also another temptation to part with more money and lure you ...
