Nice Phone Shame about the Build Quality
Review of Idect Idect X3I by
Josepine45
Advantages: Good styling, Comfortable to use
Disadvantages: 100% Unreliable
I bought two X3i single units one for each line in my house. They look and feel superb, are very comfortable even during long calls, and whilst the features are limited are comparable to the features offered on most other Dect handsets.
Problems started about a week after I got the phones. The landline phone range steadily reduced until you had to be standing next to the base station to use it. The handset on the VoIP line's display started breaking ... ...received replacements within a few days; the Land line phone worked for 2 days and then stopped picking up if it was on charge so it was impossible to answer calls. The line quality on the VoIP handset was also noticeably poorer then the previous faulty handset.
So basically from 4 handsets I suffered 100% unreliability. I am going back to my clunky old reliable BT. ...

Amstrad Emailer 1000
Review of Amstrad Emailer 1000 by
amychich
Advantages: Address book attached, quite good fun
Disadvantages: Expensive, and a bit unnecessary really
This phone is quite simply a gimmick, unless you really will make use of all its features, and don't have any access to similar facilities elsewhere. Logically, it is not worth buying a phone which enables you to email, by dialling a premium rate number to send/receive (this includes checking your emails automatically every day, on the premium rate line), when you can probably already send emails via a computer. Nor do we need to send texts at 50p ... ...mobile phone. This phone is great fun for the first week or so but then becomes an expensive irritation. It is also large and cumbersome, taking up much more space than the average phone.
It does have a few advantages: the electronic address book, the attached answer machine, and the large screen displaying a clock. These are simple and do not cost any more than the initial cost of the phone. The phonebook is particularly useful, as when combined ...

Mr Ash
Review of Idect Idect X3I by
ash321123
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: poor after sales support, factory fault , hence poor quality workmanship
...no avail. I then contacted idect directly only to be told that the phones are not designed for use outside UK and that it would cost 30 quid for repair...what a hoax.. I repaired it a local Zimbabwean workshop and was told that the amplifier was put in the wrong way by the supplier..talk about quality control. Not only was I dissatisfied by the product but also with the lack of adequate support,..probably trying to cover the cheap workmanship of ...

BT Home Hub V1.5
Review of BT Home Hub by
richj48
Advantages: Free, good customer suport.
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy outright, occasional firmware issues
We had the the BT Home Hub (Version 1.5) since early 2008 - following problems with the previous version we had since switching to wireless broadband with BT. We received both versions of the home hub free with the bt total broadband package.
The version 1.5 Hub looks very neat and stylish and runs smoothly, however occasionally the hub will need a reboot. This is a simple operation performed by pressing a dedicated reset button located on the right ... ...to have to annoyingly unplug the hub and and then wait 30 seconds before re-powering it up.
The hub usually retains the wireless settings configured by the user, although several times the firmware updates (automatically downloaded from BT) have caused a factory reset to the default installation configuration. This is mildly irritating as most users will have (quite correctly) altered the settings to a higher and more robust level then the default ...
