When I moved to Dundee the house had Telewest installed. BT wanted a fortune to reconnect me and Telewest said no charge. I had previously used Telewest in Perth, but that was with a cable network originally installed in the 1960's. That service was Cable TV only and was forever getting cut off for days at a time. I had given up with them and switched to Sky TV. However, with them offering to install it for nothing and offer the three services in one, I thought I might as well give them another chance.
The telephone service is very good, I work most of the day so am usually only home when the calls are free. I can spend an hour on the phone to my mum filling her in on what my wee girl has been up to, only just 8 months old, so plenty to tell her. My girlfriend also uses the phone a lot, so the free weekend and evening calls saves a fortune. We have had a few problems with the cable TV, however turning the box on and off again does seem to solve most of the problems. Only other time we changed the batteries in the remote and that solved it. We have not had any other problems that this didn't solve.
The internet service does seem to be the main area where there is a few problems. Connection can fail a few times before finally getting connected and the speed can also be very slow. This could be down to servers on the sites, but does appear more down to Telewest. The cynic in me thinks it might be intended to get me to switch to broadband. There have been a few times when they have sent a letter offering it at a discount then the service goes slow. No doubt just me being silly.Having used Sky recently, I have found Telewest much better. With Sky it can take forever to get through to their call centre and then another week for them to sort out a new viewing card. Which was required three times and left me with only BBC, ITV and Channel Four.
Telewest have also added Teleport to their service. I have found this an excellent service to use and can't wait for their Teleport TV to cover more channels. At the moment, I can view BBC and a few others programs that were shown in the last week at any time. This also includes programs shown in England but not in Scotland. Judge John Deed or Waterloo Road were ones that was recently shown in England then in Scotland a while after. I was able to catch the next episode before it was reviewed in newspapers. A major pain when they spoiled the plot or put them in their "Ones to watch" section, then found it wasn't in Scotland. Teleport Replay is a really great serviceGiven the choice again, I would opt for some initial disruption whilst Telewest connect up their service than get Sky to stick a dish on the side of my house, pay BT a fortune to reconnect me and sort out an ISP.

Good info here though i had to read this twice to get the full advantage of having it. I have Sky but I also have broadband and making calls via Skype has turned out to be a refreshing experience.
