As I said in my recent review of Random Acts of Catness I have to admit I am not a great Dilbert fan although I do appreciate the humour to a certain extent and my partner, Dave, who is a great fan.

So it was with this in mind that I purchased a selection of 5 Dilbert books from our local cheap bookshop in town.

For those of you who don’t know Dilbert is a cartoon character created by Scott Adams and he is mainly known for his art of miscommunication particularly in the workplace! He is ably assisted in this by his friends Wally and Alice, his dog, Dogbert and his cat, Catbert. His enemy within the workplace is his ‘pointy haired’ boss who always seems to be trying to find ways of getting rid of Dilbert.

This particular book is called Telling It Like It Isn’t and mainly features Dilbert and Dogbert.

This book is only three and a quarter inches by three and three quarter inches in size and is about half an inch thick. It is hard backed with a protective dust cover.

The front of the book and the dust cover are the same and show Dilbert in usual profile pose with his tie pointing skywards! The background is blue with the word Dilbert repeated all over in a lighter shade of blue.

At the start of the book there is a ‘For’ and ‘From’ page so this would make a great stocking filler for Christmas.

So what does Dilbert get up to? As I said before he is highly skilled in the art of miscommunication which gets him into comical situations in the workplace when confronted with his pointy haired boss!

This funny little book is a series of cartoons following Dilbert’s problems within the workplace as his boss tries to introduce work ethics such as ‘If somebody says something stupid I’ll sack them’.

Another example of the type of humour is -

Dilbert: I significantly increased my visibility at work today, Dogbert. Yesterday I was invisible to my management, but today I am known by all.
Dogbert: You screwed up huh?
Dilbert: Ooh yeah! Big Time

I must admit that the Dilbert style of humour in general isn’t really my cup of tea, but there are some comical cartoons in this book. If you are a Dilbert fan, it’s a must have!

As I said earlier I got mine from a bookshop here in Llandudno and the full price is £2. It is also available from Amazon in both new and ‘used’ form, but probably the best place to buy it from is EBay where it is on sale, brand new, for as little as 99p.

The book is printed by Andrews Mc Meal Publishing of Kansas city and the ISBN number is 0-8362-1324-6.

By the way some of the questions below are irrelevant so I just went for the middle option.
