Before buying, I visited Tempo on three occasions and was fortunate enough to be attended by the same member of sales staff. When I first visited I knew very little about computers but the person I dealt with was both helpful and courteous. I took on board his advice and then visited a few other stores. I also spoke to a few friends who are more knowledgeable than me. It soon became clear that the advice I was given was sound.
I wanted a new PC at a competitive price and also wanted to pay on the basis of interest free credit. After shopping around I eventually concluded that Tempo would be the best option. On price and payment method alone I am more than happy with what I got and have no hesitation in recommending Tempo.
In terms of the service I received I also cannot fault Tempo but would recommend that you choose your time of visit carefully. Because I work flexible hours I am in the fortunate position of being able to shop mid-week and mid-afternoon. This is a good time to visit because the sales staff are less likely to be busy.

With each visit my knowledge became better and the salesperson was able to cope with my more and more sophisticated questions. He was always patient and always helpful. More importantly, he never once tried to pressurize me into buying. But, he did work with me to help me choose my machine.
I was one happy customer, butit is not all good news. This by now loyal Tempo customer re-visited the store a couple of weeks later to buy a printer and scanner in a £99 package. I made the mistake of visiting at a lunchtime. There was only one member of staff on duty (not the one who sold me the computer) and I had to wait ages for service. When I eventually got to speak to him I found him bored and disinterested. Also, and the printer and scanner were not in stock, but that the offer was still available.. I was invited to visit there other store 20 miles away who probably had plenty in their stock! I was not offered an alternativ eor even told when they would be re-stocking.
This is no different to the standard of service I have received at other electrical super stores. Sometimes it is excellent and sometimes disgraceful. For the record, I bought my Printer from Comets and am still decide which scanner to buy.
I may or may not buy from Tempo again . It all depends on the price, and here they will always be worth checking out.
I have not commented on their after sales service as I have so far not had to use it.
But, one final comment. Why won’t the guys in these stores take no for an answer when you tell them you don’t want their extended warranty?
Advantages: Good selection, helpful staff Disadvantages: Appalling after-service care, phone calls unanswered
I'm afraid I can't agree with the glowing reports so far on Tempo. We bought a computer package from them about 18 months ago - the salesman was very helpful (well I assume he was, as we didn't know an awful lot about computers). We took our computer home and within a week the hard drive had seized up. We phoned the shop up on the Sunday but the phone just kept on ringing and ringing, so we went into the store with our hard-drive and after several ... ...he scrubbed our hard-drive and reloaded everything back on. About six months later we were having serious problems with our hard drive and called the shop. Again the phone just kept ringing and ringing. It could take several hours before anyone would answer the phone. Then the person we needed to speak to would not be there but, we were promised, they would phone us back as soon as they got back. That never happened. We would then have to go through ...

Advantages: Excellent store, friendly staff with top notch insurance deals Disadvantages: Not as large a range of computers as some places
...and overpriced outdated products. Tempo was a real breath of fresh air.
The staff are what made the tempo experience so good for me. I went to buy a laptop - and saw the one I wanted. ...alternative stores to use regularly. Tempo have built their store in colchester quite recently, near the Asda in colchester. I chanced upon seeing it as I was shopping and thought i'd take a look. The store instantly hit me as superb. It was friendly, warm and layed out very simply. I was instantly greeted by staff!

The store does other electrical goods as well but the upstairs is dedicated to computers. There is an excellent selection of software, and also a good range of hardware on displey! Unlike PC world you can to some extent customise a computer you buy there! All the accessories you would expect ...

Advantages: Good sales staff. Cheap prices. Nice environment to shop. Disadvantages: None really - apart from the warrenty but as I said "par for the course"
I bought a PC last week from Tempo. They've got an excellent range of machines and they are all at pretty good prices, especilly compared with other high street names.
I found that they tended to stock less well known machines (as well as a couple of your top brnad names too). I've always found these excellent value for money - I don't see the point in paying for a name.
The sales staff new their stuff. I work in IT myself, so I like to think I ... ...try to oversell any of the products. Just gave me the facts.
They did try to sell me ean extended warranty, which is par for the course these days. I never go for these, becuase in my opinion, if anything is going to go wrong with an electrical appliance it will happen in the first few days/weeks in which case you will always be covered. After that, unless you drop something or spill your coffe over it (like my boss did a couple of weeks ago - but ...

...weeks ago I went to tempo wiuth my cousin to buy a computer that would help him with his course. he is currently doing architecture, that means that he needs a computer with a large RAM and high speed because the software that he uses are very large. Advantages: A wide range of electrical goods Disadvantages: Takes ages to get goods delivered
I pleasantly discovered Tempo whilst walking down Kensington High Street, London W8 on a Sunday afternoon in late 1996.
A couple of things struck me. Firstly it was unusual to find a shop open for business on a Sunday. Secondly that I had never come across the name of Tempo before given the impressive view from outside.
Tempo is an electrical store in the same vein as Currys and Comet. It sells PCs, fax machines, TVs, Hi Fi equipment, toasters etc. All the items are nicely displayed to browse at.
On local London radio stations it has the catchy advertising jingle ‘Don’t sign on the dotted line until you talk to Tempo’.
The prices compare quite favourably with the likes of Argos and Currys.
Over the years I have purchased a toaster, fax machine, word processor, radio stereo system and hand blender from ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Slow to purchased things
Is Tempo the most slowest shop in the world. I brought a steamer a few weeks ago and it took me nearly half an hour to pay for it.
I went in there because they had a special offer on a certain steamer I wanted to buy. Picked it up off the shelf and went to pay for it. There was only a few people waiting but after waiting 15mins to be serve it then took another 15mins to print out a receipt and get my change back. What is going on.
It is worst if you need to buy on credit. waiting while they ring credit lines to check your OK. ...
