This installment sees Zoey being temptedby the evil Kalona's lure, and the focu of the book is the gang trying to prevent Zoey from going over to the dark side so to speak. Mainly acting on Aphrodities visions which warn against Zoey falling for Kalona, they also show that she is the only one that can stop him.
You get much more information about Kalonaa in this book and you get a glimpse into his past and how he was before he fell from the goddesses good graces and become evil.
The plot line is the main problem with these books as I am beginning to feel it has been dragged out for far to long now which is starting to spoil it, I think the story so far could have been condensed into around 4 books comfortably instead of the 6 we are at so far.
Zoey as a character is also starting to grate on me a little bit whereas I did used to really like her, she always blames one of her three boyfriends on everything that happens and never looks at her self and the love mess she created. This is the sort of behavior you would expect from the young teenager with no life experience you met in book one but by now you would think she would have matured significantly, she seems to be getting less mature as the books on.
The plot line with Stevie Ray is fantastic and could really develop in anyway so it's realy exciting to see where they are going to take her throughout the series. There are a lot of other side characters in the book that are becoming overly stereotypical which is disappointing. This includes the overly emotional, dramatic camp gay couple, and the super gangsta speaking black girl who I believe is the only black person in the book , she is meant to be a poet but talks like she is from the bronx. It's like they were desperately trying not to stereotype by making her the poet but just couldn't help themselves.
Overall I am going off these books rapidly which is a huge shame as they were my favorite series for a while, I am only still reading for the side characters stories and I hope something better develops soon with the main plot. This review is also on my dooyoo account under sosborne1987

Manufacturer's product descriptionZoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn't feature breaks on its curriculum - even for a High Priestess in training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he's sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa's tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure - but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She's not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey doesn't go to Kalona he'll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what's necessary, or everything that's important to her will be destroyed. About the AuthorP.C. Cast is an award-winning fantasy and paranormal romance author.
