"A Taster about Tenerife Pearl Centre"

I am a Vegetarian but one place that I love to visit on the Island of Tenerife is Tenerife Pearl. I rarely buy pearls due to how they are obtained but I love to look around Tenerife Pearl. There are many fascinating facts to learn about pearls as well as some extremely beautiful sites to see. The centre also sells semi-precious gems, watches, chains and other souvenirs. In addition to the beautiful hand crafted masterpieces (The carnival costumes for instance) that you would expect from this internationally valued company, Tenerife Pearl also produce a whole range of cheaper costume jewellery, to fit even the smallest of budgets budget. Many of these pieces make spectacular and yet also affordable gifts for friends and other family members. With prices well under those of the 'High Street Jewellers' even by Tenerife standards, there are considerable savings to be made, thus opening up the possibility of treating yourself to a spectacular 'once in a lifetime' piece of jewellery. (This is something I like to do). An example is a pair of Turquoise stud earrings for only 14 euros.

Entrance to Tenerife Pearl is free. It is part exhibition centre, part gem store and part workshop. All items sold here are Tax free and almost most all item brought here carry a guarantee of satisfaction. The staff of Tenerife Pearl are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable in offering advice to ensure that a gift or special keepsake from your Tenerife stay is chosen with confidence. As well as beautifully cultured pearls, there is also a range of simulated pearls, including the Prestige Pearl range of jewellery for a fraction of the cost of cultured pearls. These are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing and only a fraction of the price. There is also a gold centre here too. People all over the world have been marvelling at the mystic beauty of pearls for hundreds of years. (You can find out a little about how pearls have played their part in history too). These pearls, the 'gems of the sea' have enhanced the beauty of the most attractive women in history and they are still very important today.

Here visitors to the Tenerife Pearl Centre can witness the art of pearl threading and knotting. They can also observe the painstaking attention to detail and skill carried out by the pearl stringers. If you have a necklace that needs rethreading here is the place to visit. The craftspeople create individual pieces too, so if you wish, they can create something especially for you at a really reasonable price. There is also a complimentary ring sizing services too, available whilst you wait.

**Tea Rooms**

At Tenerife Pearl this is a comfortable licensed Tea House where you can relax and enjoy a welcome break from shopping from the varied menu, serving freshly cut sandwiches, coffee, cakes and a wide selection of ice creams too.

**Pick a Pearl!**
Within a numbers of tanks there is a large collection of oysters that are regularly taken from the oyster farms to continue growing. For a very modest charge, 24 euros (I think) you can choose any oyster that takes your fancy have it opened and then have its contents valued. This pearl is then yours to keep. An expert is always on hand to scrutinise the colour, shape and size of the harvest and value your pearl free of charge. You will be given the valuation certificate. To have your pearl mounted will cost extra, but is well worth the added expense in my view.

**How to Get There**

Tenerife Pearl can be found at Armeñime on the main road between
Playa de las Americas (within 10 km Playa de las Americas) and Los Gigantes (South side of the island). It is opened seven days a week from 9am till 8pm. There is a free car park. If going by bus take Bus number 473.

This opinion is just a short taster about Tenerife Pearl. I have only included a small amount of information about this large centre to wet you appetite to visit. There is much to discover and learn whilst enjoying a peaceful visit out of the intensive mid-day sun. Oh and by the way visit the toilets they are very clean and airy too.
