Being more of a Tom Clancy fan, I only recently started reading Chris Ryan’s books but I am now thoroughly taken.
Plunged into the heart of an African Conflict, Geordie Sharp and his team of ten SAS specialists are sent to train a government Special Forces unit in a seemingly routine assignment, but as they discover it is anything but.
As the unit is sent to dispense with a rebel group controlling a near by diamond mine, Geordie suspects that all may not be as it seems. As the leader of the government force becomes increasingly obsessive about gaining control of the mine, Geordie discovers he is willing to do anything to get inside, drawn by a hidden agenda that Geordie and his team know nothing about.
On the way they stumble across a South African woman, who holds a dark secret, which upon discovery sends Geordie and his team reeling.
The climax of this book incorporates a night- time life or death struggle for survival and the discovery of a far more sinister danger lurking in an abandoned warehouse, cut into a steep ravine.
It is only then you discover the true horror of Geordie’s life or death choice…..
A great book, with more twists than a twisty turney thing……
