Advantages A great adaptation of a great book

Disadvantages If you're not into Pratchett, it might not mean that much to you!

I love Terry Pratchett, and Hogfather is one of my favourite of his books. So I was a little nervous before looking at this illustrated screen play (which I did before watching the film!), but there was no need. It portrayed the book brilliantly, just as I would have imagined many of the characters and scenes. Many of the characters were very much as I would have imagined them.
If you don't know the story, one year at the winter festival of Hogswatch, (similar to our Christmas!) the Hogfather, who delivers presents to children, can't be found, and if the presents aren't delivered, the sun won't rise tomorrow. So Death (of all people) takes on his job for the night. However, there is something more mysterious going on to account for the Hogfather's disappearance, and Death, his granddaughter Susan and his trusty manservant Albert must find out what before its too late.

I'm a bit of a Discworld collector, and what a book to add to my collection! 372 pages, larger than A4, of beautiful stills from the screenplay, and some lovely line drawings and sketches. And for £13, its a collectors must have! However for most people, its more the kind of book you'll look at once or twice and then it'll get dusty on a shelf. Saying that, if you haven't seen the screenplay, this is well worth looking at, it really does bring the book alive!

But, I feel that this book could be added to by the inclusion of some more extras. At the moment there are only two forewords (one by pratchett and one by Vadim Jean, the adaptor and director.

What makes this even more genuine is that it has been "mucked about with" by Terry Pratchett, and he fully endorses the screenplay, and plays a role in it.

A great book that can be enjoyed by young and old alike, and really brings alive the book.
