After speaking to O2 about an upgrade deal and looking at high street stores I decided that I would get my new contract online as I couldnt get a deal that I liked. I had looked at plenty of other online retailers and the reviews on these were almost putting me off. I found Tescocontractmobilephones.com by accident and liked the deals they were offering. based on the fact that they were Tesco I ordered a Nokia 5800 on O2 with a free iPod Nano and £25 cash back.
The website will let you search on all the deals on offer by phone, network etc. and will also let you 'build' your own deal to suit and gives you a very good choice of gifts. The T&C's are a little confusing in respect of the free gifts and as you will see later are incorrect but not to an extent of being inconvenient. For the record they state that free gifts are dispatched with the phone and cash back is paid into your bank account after 3 months.
So the phone was ordered on 19th July in the evening and going by there timetable I expected this to be delivered on Monday. There were plenty of emails coming from them to confirm the order and also to inform me that I had been approved for the contract after a credit check. The day comes and I stay in all morning then need to go on a school run for 10 minutes at 12.30 and yes you guessed it....that is when DPD chose to deliver the item!! Now DPD are not the easiest people to get hold of but finally managed to speak to a real person and asked if they could get hold of the driver to attempt a delivery again - no luck getting hold of the driver. I couldnt have the parcel delivered to work as it was in a different post code area so eventually arranged to collect from the depot. Late on the Tuesday 21st July I collected the parcel but upon opening the box there was no iPod!! Instead there was a claim form for this and the £25 cash back. These had to be returned with 2 proofs of ID which I duly did the next day on the 22nd. On the 24th the iPod duly arrived so pleased with that. Even better was that on the following Wednesday a £25 cheque arrived - so much for paying into bank account after 3 months but hey!!
Overall I was very pleased with the service and speed of delivery. The T&C's need to be clarified and the free gift process needs explaining better but that is really the only gripe so would definately recommend these people
