tESCO CHICKEN TIKKA MASALa
**************************************
Tesco
Chicken TikkaMasala with
pilau rice is the best ready-cooked meal I have tasted in quite some time and this is my first food review so go easy on me...I usually make my own curry's using fresh
chicken breasts and a jar of
sauce but since buying this i have stopped doing that as it tastes just as good, if not better than making your own and works out cheaper! It's full of natural ingredients and spices so it doesn't smell like
B.O. when it's cooking in the microwave or oven like some others do and there's a
variety of
other flavours you can
pick up in the Tesco's range depending on your own taste!

Like I said, you'll find no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives here so you know exactly what your eating therefore not having to worry about dying from chemical means! The ingredients are:
Pilau rice, Chicken breast, water, Tomato Puree, Onion, Whipping cream, Yoghurt, Tomato, Vegetable Oil, Cornflour, Spices, Garlic puree, Coriander leaf, Ginger Puree, Salt, Red chilli, Maize flour, Mustard Powder and dried garlic...
I was pretty surprised when I looked at the ingredients as i was expecting some sort of weird word that i couldn't pronounce but NO! I could pronounce everything and knew what everything in it was so it appealed to me so much more!

There are two ways to cook the meal. One way is in the oven which takes 50-55 minutes and the other way is in the microwave which takes, depending on your microwave power, an average of 12 minutes! So which one's best? Well, after cooking the curry in the oven i found that the rice went hard and chewy on the top and the curry had a ring of burnt cury around the sides which wasn't too nice so I personally would just stick to shoving it in the microwave, standing there and waiting as the rice is soft and fluffy and the curry doesn't stick to the tray's edges allowing you to get the most out of it!
wHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKe
********************************
I tastes beautiful. It's not to hot so you don't end up downing a glass of water in the middle of eating to cool your tounge down! It's just right, you can taste every flavour as you eat it, the ginger, the cream, the spices and it goes down nicely too without leaving a bad after taste. The rice is soft and fluffy so you don't choke on it and actually has a slight taste of tumeric so it doesn't taste bland at all. The curry is smooth and creamy with good size chunks of chicken in it so you don't end up searching for them in the sauce! I wouldn't say this curry would fill you up for long on it's own so what i do is buy some chips and nan bread and make a meal out of it! This is what I do:
- Put the curry in the microwave for the first half which is 6 mins.
- Once the currys cooking for it's first six mins, turn on your chip fryer to heat up.
- Once the first six mins of the curry are done, take it out and stir it around.
- Put the chips in the fryer and the curry back in the microwave for it's second half of 6 mins.
- whilst both those are cooking, heat up a grill and shove some naan bread under to toast slightly!
- You'll find that once the curry has finished the second half of 6 mins, the chips will also be done so take them both out, dunk on a plate, add the naan bread and you've got yourself a good hearty meal you deserve!!

It comes in a deep red coloured box which shows a picture of the curry on the front. Now, usually they don't look like they do on the front cover after you've cooked them but in this instance it does! The best before dates and cooking instructions are placed clearly on the front and sides and it warns you that although every care has been taken to remove bones, some may still remain. I've had a good few of these currys now and can say that i've never ever come across a bone so i don't think you need to worry. It also warns that the product could contain nuts which basically means that f you do have a nut allergy and decide to eat this product, you can't sue them after you've had a reaction!
oTHER PRODUCTS IN THE RANGE AND PRICEs
*********************************************************You can also pick up in this gorgeous range of currys:
- Chicken Korma
- Beef Madras
- Chicken Jalfrezi
- Chicken Balti (which comes with naan bread)
They all taste just as great as this one does so you won't be dissapointed in any which takes your fancy! They also have a long term price offer on these currys which is good news. The Offer is 'Any 3 for 4 pound 50' which is awesome! If you were to make your own 3 curry's you'd have to buy 8 quids worth of
chicken breast and 3 sauce jars which would come to another 8 quid so your saving a lot. tO ROUND Up

I have stopped making my own because these taste so good. I love cooking, don't get me wrong, but i just keep wheeling my trolley round to these in the frozen section of Tesco's! I can't stop myself, it's like the wheels have a mind of their own! Basically, i'd choose this over forking out for a takeaway anyday 'cos you know what ingredients your getting (no dogs claws), and you know that it's going to taste great! If your looking for a quick meal every now and then, like me, then these are perfect. Give 'em a try, you might just be surprised! :-)
Mmm you've made me REALLY want a curry now!! :-P xxx
