This can be picked up, (a bit like Singles night at Asda) occasionally, on the chilled processed food section of Tescos, although more often than not when I do my shopping on a Sunday it is nearly always out of stock.

SO WHAT IS IT?
A low fat (2%), relatively high calorie complete meal for one containing Chargrilled chicken breast served with white and wild rice.SUITABLE FOR:

• Microwaving
• Oven Cooking
• Home Freezing

MICROWAVE
To cook, remove cardboard sleeve, prick the film lid a couple of times and microwave:

• 650W for 6½ mins
• 750W for 6 mins

I have a 900W microwave oven (obviously not covered here) and I follow the 750W instructions but with a top up after serving for good measure.OVEN
I must confess I have never tried oven-cooking, as I have a phobia about direct long term heat and plastic - where I was brought up the two simply didn't go together.

For those without a microwave - 190C/375F or Gas Mark 5 for 25-30 minutes.

The product should be stirred well before servig, and if in any doubt about whether it is cooked or not, stick it back in for a few minutes longer.

HOW I COOK
As I've already said, I follow the 700W instructions, stir and serve and then place back in the microwave for around 1 minute just to be sure - I guess another paranoia from my younger days about suitably cooked food.

WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR MONEY
As someone who has made a habit of eating such products for around the last 20 years, I can honestly say that both the quality and quantity of these type of products have improved considerably.

Years ago, you would get yourself a tiny portion (almost alaways frozen) looking very isolated on the corner of even a supper plate - you knew you were eating healthy foods and most of us probably spent the rest of the evening desperate for something to eat, gnawing on our finger-nails or filling up with fruit or water, or if a smoker, chain smoking to beat the hunger pangs - rest assured you will not feel like that after this meal.

THE SAUCE
You will get around 6 or 7 large pieces of chargrilled, very tender chicken, onions, mushrooms and a creamy sauce (I find this a little bit pungent - but it sets off very nicely with a dollop of ground black pepper-corns and a quick shake of salt or soy-sauce.

THE RICE
This is not your typical long grained rice, but is mixed in with Wild Rice, I can't tell you much about this, apart from the fact that it is black and crunchy - and certainly thwarts those hunger pangs - no good for anyone who like stodgy rice.

• 450 calories - and 6.3g of fat of which 3.6g is saturates
• 32g of Protein
• 4.5g of Fibre
• 0.5g of Sodium
• 1.4g of Salt

So not really a bad option all round.

* £2.99 - but watch out for 2 for 1 and but 2, get £1 off vouchers (in my opinion well worth it - watching what you eat or not)

Tescos have a customer satisfaction line details printed on the pack - 0800 50 55 55 - Mon - Sat - 9am to 6pm - This seems to be happening more and more these days, I wonder if anyone ever rings them
