Grrrrrrrrrrr!! Tesco ads - yes, you know the ones, with those two irritating women - mother and daughter - who need to go and GET A DAMN LIFE!!
Prunella Scales (Mother) and Jane Horrocks (daughter) star in a series of these interminably maddening adverts for Tesco supermarkets and Tesco online shopping. When will that damn sulky daughter cut the strings that bind her to her interfering, molly-coddling mother's apron?!
... ...to the Christmas ads, is also married/in a long term relationship - but you wouldn't know it! In every ad they are in each other's pockets, on a daily basis, with both their sad lives revolving around Tesco's, its stores, its site, its products and its bargains. What DO they find to do for the rest of the day?

Prunella Scales (Mother) and Jane Horrocks (daughter) star in a series of these interminably maddening adverts for Tesco supermarkets and Tesco online shopping. When will that damn sulky daughter cut the strings that bind her to her interfering, molly-coddling mother's apron?!
Horrocks as the daughter has a young child and, according to the Christmas ads, is also married/in a long term relationship - but you wouldn't know it! In every ad they are in each other's pockets, on a daily basis, with both their sad lives revolving around Tesco's, its stores, its site, its products and its bargains. What DO they find to do for the rest of the day?
They are ALWAYS either shopping together or doing one another's shopping, while Horrocks sulkily tuts at her dotty mother's stupid actions and comments. It is soooooooooo NOT funny!
Admittedly within these skin-crawling ads we learn something about Tesco's itself - you can shop online and have it delivered to your door, they are constantly price-checking to bring their prices down year after year, you can earn clubcard points, have your good packed at the checkout, find bargain deals, etc etc. But, for once, couldn't they show/tell us this some other way or are we forever doomed to sit through these Scales/Horrocks "sketches" that are about as amusing as a slap in the face with a wet trout from the fish counter?!
Advantages: The ads are like mini sitcoms and very enjoyable Disadvantages: None that spring to mind
I wasn't quite sure which Tesco section to put this in, but an advert is an advert so i figured it didn't matter too much.
I love the Tesco's adverts. As soon as you see the face, and then hear the voice of the 'loveable' old lady you know its Tesco straight away.
I look forwards to the new ads coming out so i can follow the antics of the old dear and her family.
I was going to write that although i like the ads i couldn't actually think specificly ... ...i'm wrong.
Subconciously, Tesco has managed to promote it's range of organic produce in my mind..i know they do a large range now, including ice-cream, burgers and biscuits.
Also customer service has been implanted in my mind....i know that Tesco open extra tills and are happy to find products for you and help pack your bags.
The latest knowledge i have is the xmas range of goods...can't remember exactly but its something special with peppers, ...
