I Love mince pies! I never turn down one that's being offered so already I have tried a good many variety of mince pies.
I have also started to do my shopping online with Tesco and they have a section of offers that just apply when you buy online, anyway when i did my shopping last week, one of the online offers was to click on the picture of the Tesco deep filled mince pies and click add 1 and the mince pies get added to the shopping basket for free!
I had to do it!
HOW THEY TASTE
The box is very eye catching being a deep red/burgundy colour and 6 mince pies piled up on the right hand side- the word Tesco Christmas are printed on the top left hand side- so already its hard to resist the mince pies.
Once the box is opened there is a tray with 6 mince pies just waiting to be taken.
Ok, So I've took one-they are a good size for a mince pie with the pastry looking thick so I take a bit and sure enough the pastry is quite thick and very crumbly! it fall to pieces in my hand making my hands covered in mincemeat, but it tastes buttery and taking some of the mincemeat from my hand it also tastes very good, fruity and zesty. I quickly finish the rest savoring the rich fruity taste which goes so well with the buttery pastry-however it does leave my mouth very dry and in need of a drink.
I eat my mince pies straight from the packet as i like the taste of them cold, however you can eat them hot, here are a few guidelines- use you discernment based on your own heating appliances.
To Oven Heat (Conventional Oven): Keeping the pies in their foils, place on the middle shelf of a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5, for 6 minutes. (Adjust for Fan Assisted Ovens).
To Microwave (based on a 850W (E) Oven): Remove the pie from its foil and place on a non-metallic plate. Heat for only 10 seconds on maximum power rating. If heating 4 or more pies at a time, heat for 30 seconds only.
Do not overheat as the filling can become dangerously hot.
And these would be nice with custard or even brandy sauce...

PRICE
As I've already mentioned I got these free on a online offer, however this offer ended 3rd December. Normally they are 99p and at the moment, online it's 2 for £1.50.
Sorry- I don't know if this offer is available in store as well.
CONCLUSION
If you like mince pies then I would recommend these mince pies, because apart from the fact that they fall apart they taste very nice- and at the end of the day I've never had a mince pie that doesn't fall apart... Maybe I hold them wrong?
If you don't like mince pies then only buy these if you want to treat someone else as they are too good to leave rotting in the cupboard.
