I started ordering my shopping on-line because my two little angels (!!) didn't like going shopping. I have to admit I'm not very keen myself - all that queuing, etc. (Plus I have been known to get a bit lethal with the shopping trolley!).
I had only shopped at Tesco's once previously but as they were the only store offering home shopping in my neck of the woods (sunny Rochdale), I thought I'd give them a go.
The home page sometimes has a bit of trouble firing up, but once on the site it is relatively clear and easy to get round. The first thing I do is go straight to the "special offers" pages where you can just look at the top offers that week or look under each department (health and beauty, frozen foods, drinks, etc).
You can then search under all the departments and sub-departments that it brings up, but if you tend to order the same things over and over again, you can look at everything you've ever ordered and just put the quantity that you require in. I tend to do this as it saves a lot of time. If I need anything "out of the ordinary" I fill in the little note-shaped shopping list, press "find" and it will bring up all the options for me.
Then it's just a matter of checking I've ordered everything, selecting a delivery time (you can order a couple of weeks in advance, but if you need things sooner than that I tend to find that even if I am ordering at night I can usually get my order the next day), and paying by the usual methods.
you can also arrange for your shopping to go to a different address, which is useful for me as my mum lives in a little seaside village with no big supermarkets round her (and no car) so she tells me what she wants, I order it on my Switch card, and then she pays me by cheque. I'm a good girl aren't I!!
The only downside I've had is a couple of times now, they have left a bag of shopping on the van and then they have to deliver it later, but anyone can make a mistake and I'd rather put up with that than trudge round on a Saturday morning!

I keep meaning to get round to registering for this although it would make me feel a bit lazy using it as my local Tesco is only a 5-10 min drive away! ;0)

You're right, supermarket shopping can be a real chore sometimes. I've not tried Tesco Direct myself yet, but will give it a go sometime.

The only problem we've found is that they replace stuff with something completely different at times!
Advantages: User friendly website, free delivery, Tesco Clubcard points, good value for money Disadvantages: Sometimes slow to download pictures, stock changes
