Yes, Christmas is over and now it’s time for another of my boozy little opinions on another of my favourite tipples! I do love my wine, and many of them! Many of you I starting to notice my alarming amount of alcohol opinions – I don’t like to disappoint!

This time it’s the turn of another of my Tesco favourites – their own brand wines are in fact very good. French Medium Dry White Wine (Vin de Table de France) is another regular drinking buddy of mine. It doesn’t sound very glamorous, and indeed the box (I buy the 3 litre boxes!) doesn’t look very glamorous either – chiefly white with some tacky sketchy drawings of wine and food on it! But the liquid hiding inside is very, very drinkable indeed!

This one is billed as a “light, fruity, slightly sweet” wine and I probably can’t better that description, just expand on it a little. On the dryness scale (graded 1(driest)-9(sweetest)) it is a 3 which means it just borders on being sweet but still has the feeling of a dry wine in the mouth. It has an alcohol content of 10.5% volume which is average for a wine of this range. A 3 litre box will cost around £11, I think it is also available in standard 75cl bottles for around £4 from Tesco. This is one my my regular purchases and I duly stocked up on 3 boxes of the stuff for over the Christmas/New Year period but I drink it happily all year round!

Produced in France, as the name suggests, it is a clear yellow-tinged wine with very little discernable aroma other than a slight grapey tang. The flavour is delicious tangy, slightly sweet and very fruity with a slightly tart note. A wine that it is easy to drink a lot of (mind you, I say that about all of them!)

Best serve chilled, this wine is ideal with fish, poultry and white meats and, again, perfect just on its own. As ever I am heartily going to recommend this one along with the other wines I have written about recently – as I try more and more and work my way through Tescos wine shelves my opinions may alter though!

I have a problem when faced with the wine displays and that is knowing which to pick first. There is always something new to try. Long may it continue..Baz

I was in Victoria Wine last night, replenishing supplies. Their current policy on wine is, if you try it and don't like it, take it back and they will replace it with a bottle of something else. Technically you could have a free glass from every bottle they stock. Why did I think of you to tell this to?.. Peter.
