    Advantages Advantages Reasonably cheap, frothy and smooth when made properly

    Disadvantages Disadvantages More granules are needed to make a decent cup, too little granules gives a sour milk taste

    Tesco Instant Hot Chocolate Since falling pregnant, I have not been able to drink tea or coffee anymore, which has left hot chocolate as the only real option for me. Since then, I have tried various hot chocolates – most of them landing in the cheaper price scales as I drink so much. Usually I purchase the really cheap Tesco own brand hot chocolate as I drink so much and it is actually quite enjoyable, though Tesco were out of my usual brand on my last shop so I picked up the next cheapest in the range, which was again, a Tesco brand.     While I occasionally drink tea or coffee, my hot beverage of choice is hot chocolate. Since I normally don't have the time or patience to heat up milk, I generally prefer instant varieties. Tesco Instant Hot Chocolate (the regular Tesco one, not the value one) is my preferred brand. The hot chocolate powder comes in a 400g dark brown glass jar with a purple plastic lid. The label continues the purple theme and contains the usual information (ingredients, nutrition, etc). The packaging is distinct enough to find easily on the supermarket shelf, but the colour has clearly been chosen to resemble ... more

    Me and Hollie love to cuddle up on the sofa on a rainy day and watch DVDs. She would always want to drink some of my cup of tea or coffee and could tell she wanted a hot drink too. I went to Tesco with "hot chocolate" on my shopping list and decided to buy this Tesco branded version. I hadn't had it before but thought it would be fine as I always try to buy Tesco versions of products when possible.
